Would like a Vario Benzin Trainer most! Would consider Miniature Aircraft XL gasser, or a Bergen Intrepid..

X-Cell Gasser

I've got an X-cell gasser with about one gallon of gas through it. I've got about $2,400 invested and would consider selling it. Let me know if you want pictures and details on the heli.

Why has nobody mentioned the Hirobo gasser?

My preferences!!

Hirobo is great until you wake up one day and can't find parts!
Japan with r/c products have a bad habit of forcing buyers to buy newer systems rather than replacement parts. My experiences anyway...

I can go see x-cell any time.... And who has ever not heard of the x-cell line..

Vario is another imported product....

Horizon JR Ergo gas, look at how fast they change there radios...

And I leave Bergen alone, I never get an email back from them.

I have to agree with most of your post. Imports are somewhat washing.

XCell and Bergen are the way. I had the same problems with bergen. Ordered online, never received anything for a bit. I had trouble emailing them. blah blah.

I soon found out though that they are phone people and all has been well in bergen land. What's nice is they are usually sitting by the phone day and night. I can talk to them on the phone when it's probably past their bedtime in michigan compared to Oregon.

always get larry on the phone. He also does the making. knowledgable. like a freaking PHD in toy-choppers.

Helicopters don't compare though, bergen is the way. Flown both. Sorry you had a bad experience. Price out upgrades of an xcell to match. ridiculous. I think I'm in the wrong business.

just my two cents on the conversation. good luck with your chopper.

you'll enjoy runryder. most of the people want to share information and learn. there are always a few who "know it all" or can make sure you know that they are more knowledgeable than you.

this site has provided me with a great deal of information. if anything, it has become adictive.

speak your peace. some will learn. some will disagree. but many will read.

nels

just do it!

Local Hobby Shop

When I was growing up my Dad would take me to the local hobby shop
and talk trains with the owner and other customers. I continue this tradition with my children taking them to the local hobby shop and instead of talking trains we talk heli’s. My point is support your local hobby shops. When ever I have needed a part for my Hirobo the local shop had it on the shelf or they ordered it from Edison, NJ the location of the importer for Hirobo. No part problems here.

why?

Why would you buy something from your LOH that's more expensive just to support them? My LOH has very few parts for my heli and it takes weeks to order them. I can order ANY part for my Raptor from Heliproz and have it in 48 hours and pay no tax. I like to visit my LOH too but by and large they are not profitable businesses and their overhead is very high. That means one thing for the customer-higher prices! The owner of my LOH is a one man show and works incredibly long hours and still he can't compete. It's the almighty dollar that is the bottom line and I don't need to tell you that this hobby ain't cheap.

It would be nice!!

Reasons primarly to the change to a gas ship was location, being the nearest hobby shop it 2 hours away. Im glad that you have one so close. Id rather go off a US made part number than an imported translated renumber part. Since all my parts are ordered.. Just what I have seen, and delt with! Happy you can support the locals though, Im having hobby shop withdrawls.

Got to love opinions!

So I'll have a place to take my grandkids. If everbody thought like you we would have no more local hobby shops. Maybe you don't like to interact with people, person to person, only VIA the phone or internet is more your style.

It's PRICE & SERVICE!

You didn't understand me. It's not the internet, phone ordering that I like or that I don't like to interact with people it all comes down to price and service. I know what you mean by taking your grandkids to see the planes and heli's, etc. and talking with the other folks-I can remember doing that with my dad when I was a kid and they're great memories. But the owner of the shop is tired of me just window shopping in his store and I can't blame him but it's just so much more expensive.
