Can people with issue with Lepton main gear comment on durability. Under what pinion size? how does compare with other helis.

I have had no problems with my Lepton's main gear. It is made out of a Delrin material and because the main motor pinion is a metal material, I don't think any other material would stand up any better. I purchased an HDX main gear that is supposed to work with the Lepton, but it is made out of a cheaper material. I guess that is why you pay for what you get

Cheers

Yeah, mine get stripped every now and then. It depends on how torquee the motor is, and the pitch range you're running. The main gear diameter is too small for the size of the rotor disk. Having too much backlash on the gear and pinion can also stip the main gear....

Can it be the size of the pinion you are using??

Well, you see, I'm currently running 400mm blades...... During some testings I did stripped the main gear...... On that one the fix I came about was adjusting the backlash a little tighter..... A hairline tight, how I could describe it...... My HS now is at 2800rpm range with 18T pinion and pitch range of +/-11*..... And, so far, I haven't stripped the main gear yet, I'm crossing my fingers.... My motor have quite a lot of torque.... A couple of guys in this forum agreed when thay tested it...... I was doing some reconfiguration earlier...... HS was hitting 3200rpm with 20T pinion..... Quite scarry...... The whole heli was vibrating in a hover..... Not violently...... But as it does I could actually feel it in my skin through the air..... So I went down to 18T pinion.... I'm sure if I was using 425mm blades I could have stripped the main gear again during pitch pumping......
