The way I understand this is for a cnc program to use a a-cad it has to be in dxf format. I have a file that needs put into a planview for this. It is in a Autocad 3d I believe.

Anyone have spare time on there hands or need heli parts/ ie other..?

It really depends on the type of part you want to make ...

If you want to cut a frame (something flat !) out of carbon, G10 or aluminium, most shops can either take a DWG or DXF, you just need to check the versions and double check the dimensions with them.

If it's something that will be turned (something round !) and is not complex, most places will work with a simple sketch or 2D drawing.

The fun starts when it's neither of those ... then there are no straight answers, the complexity of the part, tolerances, types of operations needed, machines involved, need to be look at with the shop. They will tell you what they need to get it done.

From your question, it seems the shop (assuming you have talked with them, hence my introduction !) is not equiped to produce CNC paths from 3D models/solids. Typically they will require a 3 view/2D drawing with all the dimensioning done. Again, this can be done in DWG or DXF or sometime even ploted out on paper ...

Hope it can help clarify discussions with potential shops

ok

Well, I need to call a company today and see what format he works with best. He is a local cnc guy in town that is well known. I know I need to have a flat planview for it to work. I will post what I find. The drawings I have are all isometric.

This is for my gasser radio tray I had an accident last fall and its not a normal radio tray.

If the part is flat, all I need is a 2D drawing. He can edit the Z moves at the machine.
