i cant afford a trex 600 but i love the Larger Electric Helis...Is this E-Smart 600 the same size looking as the Trex 600? i see some on ebay really cheap new...So far this was the cheapest Largest Heli i have seen so far..Just the Kit with the Motor.....
If anyone has one for sale,,,,please let me know.....

Also with this Heli do i absolutely need a seperate BEC and Battery?
i have a Jr. Voyager E and all i use to power it is a 3s 2100mAh battery with the Esc.....it's a 500 size heli.....
so can the same principle be done with the E-Smart 600? just 1 3s battery and 1 esc? of course servos, Gyro, Etc....

Please advise if anyone has experience Flying without a seperate BEC and Battery for Bec.....

Looking at the two heli's the blade length of the e-Smart is 550mm and the Trex is 600mm. So that gives you some rough comparision that the e-Smart is a little bit smaller.

Regarding the BEC, most speed controls include a BEC. Whether or not that BEC will be suitable for your electronics package (servos, Rx gyro) will depend greatly on what devices you have and what the BEC in the speed controller is capable of delivering.

My advice is to measure the current of your package loaded and unloaded then size your BEC accordingly. Be aware that it some BEC's current ratings are overstated and may be an estimate based on the individual components rated values. For instance the BEC in my ELE advanced uses the two L4941B voltage regulators. These are rated at 1 amp each with peaks up to 1.7 amps. I suspect these are configured in parallel which is how ELE gets the rating of 3amps total. However I have measured and with over 1 amp of current draw, the both L4941B's will over heat and go into thermal shutdown.

First off your not going to fly a 600 heli with a 3S battery you need a 6S pack and they are 300-350 a pop. Next, Depending on the ESC you buy and your electronics will determine if you need a seperate bec If you buy all top shelf stuff that will take 6V and your ESC has the built in 6V bec then you won;t need it. I have a seperate life pack just to power the bec for my trex 600E and it is switchable from 5-6V. Next is a charger for the 6S packs is going to run you about 170-300 depending on the power supply you want to run...
I just built my 600E and IT gets expensive very fast. If you have a vision of having a 600 size heli flying for under a grand don't kid yourself, it ain't gonna happen... You'll have a grand in 2 batteries and one charger with a 6s setup.... plus the heli servos, gyro, blades, ESC, BEC, battery for that, and the upgrade parts you'll need for the esmart to make it fly good... Your going to be in the $1500-2000 bracket before it leaves the bench... I have the reciepts to prove it....

Thanks, but Slider already has that position, and doing quite well I might add. Plus, I don't have the tenure. Also to give credit where it is surely due, if not for Tryan's reseach I wouldn't have the specs for the L4941B. We're all in this together

wow,,,i didnt know

I didnt know it was gonna cost so much...i thought the E-smart 600 was a cheaper alternative to a trex600...
i have a Jr. Voyager E and all i run is a 3s battery with 1 ESC and it Flies good,,,,i didnt know u absolutely needed a 6s a seperate BEC...I seen lot's of E-smart Kits a lot cheaper than the Trex 600 Kits so i thought i was gettn a bargain...I guess not...i was just thinking of staying with my Jr Voyager E and calln it quits.....My original goal was to strip the Voyager..Servos,,,Gyro 240 and TX and RX ( 72mghz ) and put on E-smart 600.....I guess from what your saying it's not possible.....
Unless some one here has a 600 size heli they can sell me for a decent price.......

Thanks for the info......Trying to find a cheaper alternative to a 600 size Heli....

The servos on a 600 size heli are the full size servos if you can get 3 for $150 used, that will take the loads needed you will save a little there. You can try to cut corners on the electronics but you will pay for it in the long run... If you Buy cheap, you buy it twice... I picked up my 600E dirt cheap with motor esc and BEC and battery for BEC (less than the esmart kit) and I still have over $1500 in it but it flies like a dream....

Im running castle creations BEC 10amp $20 you gotta be crazy not to use one. So as for the dang thats expensive hell yes find a heli that isnt but do some research and these parts can be bought fairly cheap. Especially in RunRyder classifieds

Also remember though Cheap is as cheap does.

i see brand new E-smart kits for $209 on ebay...here's the link...
http://cgi.ebay.com/E-SMART-600-SIZ...1QQcmdZViewItem

how is that u got a Trex 600 Kit with esc, bec and bat for bec for around that price with motor.........i have not seen a deal for that on a trex 600...Usually a new trex 600 Kit with motor, esx, bec and battery wll cost around $500 new....i guess used $350 or more.....Here's a link to a ebay trex new exactly like u described minus the bec bat i think....
http://cgi.ebay.com/Trex-600-KX0160...1QQcmdZViewItem

So now i'm confused....should i just go all out and get a Trex600 or is this E-smart a cheaper route.....i guess if i had to buy all the electronic i would but my goal is to spend no more than $600 to $700 for everything....i have a Futaba T6 EXHP Radio with RX ( 72mghz ) so all i would ned extra is a gyro 401, Servo, 3 servos for Heli, Main Battery and battery charger..All of that i'm hoping i can get used for under $500 here on RR..
So am i still dillusioned or can i obtain all this used for the price i listed....i hope it's possible...i really want a Larger Heli so bad.....i really want a Raptor 90SE but i dont want Nitro.....

Well lets run thru the numbers quickly....
heli 209
1 battery 350
esc 125?
bec 20
3 servos 150
gyro and tail servo 175
charger 175-300
main Blades 80-140
metal upgrades to swash and tail 100

It looks like you can get the heli, 1 battery, esc and bec then your out of money....maybe you can get lucky and find a deal on some of the electronics too

Esmart sounds Hurri 550 size. The Hurri runs off two 3S packs. This is much cheaper than a 6s but takes two. See what I mean.

Lots of folks are dumping Spektrum DS821 full size digital servos which come with a DX7 radio kit. I see 3 and 4 new ones go for 50ish on Ebay at times. They are in the classified section here too sometimes.

GY401s, 2100ts, GY601s are always available with a digital tail servo around here for well off list, just hunt you one down.

There are opportunities to save big $$$s if your willing to hunt.

Yes there are deals to be had but you do need to know what your going to be spending up front before you jump into something like a 600 size heli... I just wanted to share my expenditures so you have an idea what your going to spend up front. Now It's a matter of how deep your pockets are or good deals you can find....

are you really sure you wanna know what your gonna spend up front? I had an Idea with the little REX but some things are better unknown. I could of been flyin a mini with fender by now.

I heard the Mini SE is better than the rex and the Egaui is better than the mini SE but the esmart is better than all of them.

thats all BS its just what you want and Like I said I would prefer not to know what Im gonna spend and just buy it one piece at a time(johnny Cash) Cause after Im done and I add it up I got a $450 honeybee king2. how did that happen. Oh well its done now nothing I can do about it.

I hear ya heli brother.... Somethings you don't want to know but my wife likes to remind me of my online shopping addiction...... She has it all documented just to show me.... I really don't even care but I guess she does...
The batteries/charger are the killer for any large heli.. Even with the 3s packs your going to need 4 of them to make a 22.2V 5000mah pack and a bunch of jumper wires to connect them all together....

these numbers are just not accurate.

The heli kit is $199 with free shipping
1 6S 3700 Flightpower is $250 at the most
The Align 75 ESC works great $75
BEC $20
3 servos 150
gyro and tail servo $140
Astro charger $100
main blades come with it (woodies)
metal upgrades needed are $20 for the swash and $30 for the tail

Those are just rough numbers I was using to give an idea to Rhampton of the kind of money your going to spend on a 600 size heli. Like tryan and I stated above you can save by shopping for deals.....

Rough numbers are great as long as they are somewhat accurate. The numbers I gave was for all new stuff, from the manufacturers, much better deals can be had here on RR. For example I have seen new Flightpower 6S 3700's here on RR recently going for $150. A 240 gyro will work fine one the Esky also.

here we go 1,,,2,,,,,1,,,,2 ha ha

Thanks guys for stickin up for my Heli interest...WELLLLLLLL GUESS WHAT....I just crashed the Jr. Voyager E today cause of major Vibration and i accidently took my hand off the radio...That's what really caused the crash....
Anyways,,,,i will be gettn more parts but i'm for sure seriously thinkn of gettn another Heli...Something more newer and more stable..After takn apart this Freekn thing i realize all the parts are rather cheap....Hitec Servos...hs-225b...Futaba gyro servo 3004 i think and a gyro 240..not sure what the esc is.......i was hoping to use these parts on another 500 size or 550 size heli......So as it stands i need to buy a Heli basically with all electronics minus Radio and Rx....that E-smart is lookn more attractive if i can get allllll use parts...i can buy the heli new but need to get the 401 Gyro,,,,,,,well maybe i can still use the 240....but i need hi-speed digital servos and the battery and charger is what's really gonna kill me..i was hoping to buy a Heli that can utilize 3s 2200mAh 11.1 battery....I could buy another used Voyager E but it's so old and i am not too satisfied with performance....Maybe it's because i never had it tuned good in the first place...i bought it used and it Flew like crap ever since....I flew 14 times and this is my first crash....

well that's my story.....now i'm definitely lookn for another Heli.....
Please keep it comin guys....i need more advise as to what Heli i can buy......if u see anything in the classified that you can recomend please let me know..........
damm i feel like i'm takn over this guy's site...My topic was like in the middle..ha ha.....

The biggest heli I know of using 3s batts is the Trex 450. Probably is something out there but I dunno.
