e-Hirobo SRB Quark - Lepton - XRB Coaxial > Want pics of Lepton using upper main shaft hole

As the title says, I'd like to see pics of the Lepton when using the upper main shaft hole.
Im really wondering how the hell you setup your washout lever geometry after going to the upper hole? Or do you just not worry about that?
Hmmm, post some pics and fill me in please.
Cheers

Hey gorn,

What's up...... What are you doing in the Lepton forum? You've always been a QJ8 guy ......

There's really nothing to it (switching to upper hole).... On mine I simply re-length the three servo rod link........

Hey Tail
Nah, I havent had a QJ for about 4 months now I guess.
I actually have a HDX500SE, yes yes I know I know lol.
BUT, this also has the 3 holes in the main shaft like the Lepton, so am curious about how the washout levers look when using the upper hole.
I know you need to shorten the swash links, but what about keeping the washout levers level?
I almost bought a QJ EX, that was until a customer bought one into the shop, wiggled the swash.........sigh, same sloppy swash as the SP.
The rest of the heli was quite nice really, but by the time I would have put another Rotorworkz chassis in, carbon boom and blades etc etc, just all added up to to much hassle really.
I do miss em though, as once sorted mine flew really nice

Hi

Just shorten the links between the bell cranks and the swash. This way the swash stays in the same place on the shaft. The whole thing just moves down.

Hope this makes sence.

I'm sure it's been posted...but why use the upper main shaft hole? Tom

2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2.

The upper hole brings the rotor head closer to the center of gravity of the helicopter.
Makes the roll and flip rate faster when everything is closer to the CG line.

Hmmm, I must be a dumbass lol, but the washout links are a fixed length to the swash. If you then shorten the amount of swash throw then surely it throws the leverage ratio out if you level the arms with the washout to flybar link?
Does it actually matter?
How do you get the same pitch range with less swash travel?
Hmmm. Normally Im very good at working things out, but this time I cant seem to look outside the box

What seems to be the problem gorn?

I still couldn't figure out what you're looking for.....

That set up on the picture is actually capable of +/-14*... But, I only set my pitch mixing to +/-12*...... Then dial my idle up curves +/-11*, then +12*/-10* throtle hold, -5*/+10* normal mode....

Then using the upper hole, only requires shrotening the swash links.... Could you maybe post pics of your set up?... Maybe I'd be able to help you better.......

BTW, the wash out levers need to be level at 0*..... Or the cyclic response between pos and neg pitch will be different....

Hi gorn

I am going to cut and paste my last post:

Just shorten the links between the bell cranks and the swash. This way the swash stays in the same place on the shaft. The whole thing just moves down.

Hope this makes sence.

Paul

There is NO change in the pitch range or any angle etc.
The gap between the swash and the carbon frame just reduces. This requires the 3 bell crank to swash links to be shortened.

Here's a few quick pics I took before I sold my lepton.

I had to adjust the links from the servo to the swash to keep the swash in the middle with the anti-rotation bracket. The swash was not in the middle of the bracket when I bought it and since it was a second hand heli I didn't catch that

I had to adjust the links between the washout base and the flybar to get the washout levers level.

If you notice that I had tighten the links as far as they can go and the levers were still not level. I may have the wrong long link on there but that could be an easy fix by trimming off 1-3mm off the link

I had wrote the measurements for the links down somewhere on a piece of paper but that was a few months ago so I may have lost it

No prob. But just like the guys are saying the head just moves down and the geometry should be the same I don't know why mines was off

I was using some Elcheapo FG blades Lol using the the upper hole on the main shaft and boy did it sure fly good
