Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > Who flew an Audacity today?

I did a demo flight at lunch today for a bunch of middle school kids.
After the flight I had a few young lads come over and look at the Pantera. One kid looked me square in the eye and said "You are messing with me. Helicopters can't fly upside down. My dad flys in the army and he told me so." I laughed and told him that he watched me fly my "model" upside down, and I would hope your dad never has to do that.
Great day. Flying this weekend.

I'll be breaking my Pantera in a little more this weekend if all goes well. Sounds cool doing the demo for the kids, nice thing to do.

The first time I flew for my cousin and his friends it was the same way They were dumbfounded and speechless. It was great for me.

Bill Im pretty sure I met you at a funfly in Snohomish or Brooks. I remember asking you what you thought of the Pantera and Tiger you were very helpful and answered all my questions. I was the guy flying the red Raptor that was stationed at FT Lewis.

I didn't fly Audacity today. The wind here in cali would take my poor Pantera and I would never see it again. Im waiting for trees to break and fall into the house.

Woooo Whooo! Way to go Bill. I didnt quite make a gallon as it was raining all weekend. I have been flying the Tiger exclusively for the last week or so. I've been working on speeding up control response. The last thing I did was swap in a Raptor 50 stainless flybar and the white paddles. THAT really improved the response. Much tighter loops and faster roll rate. I flew the Tiger a handful of flights today between running my daughter around and avoiding the rain. I have the new canopy installed and LOVE the new look. It will likely get some custom paint soon.

Nice photo Marty.
A tiger is a tiger and you have the grin. The canopy looks cool.
I hope to get a few days off and burn another few gallons. Flew the Scale ship today as well and just had a great time.
I have two cases of fuel and I hope to burn some before the funfly in may.

That'll be some flying! I'm on gallon 7 for the year. Breaking open gallon #8. I managed to get away and fly this morning. It's the last I have on hand.

Yep, just cracked her open. I called the hobbyshop I buy fuel from and they had to order the next 8 for me as they only had one gallon on hand. I dont think they sell a lot of 15% heli fuel.

15%, come on guys. Your helis deserve better! lol.
I got my Pantera back in the air today. Had my first "incident" with it last weekend. Almost got hit by a truck at the field while I was inverted just inches off the ground. Wasn't pretty. But the only thing that broke was the front tail gear and tail blades. If that had been my 600n it would have been totalled, I guarantee you that.

Flew my Tiger on Sunday

had an interesting incident...

was doing figure 8's, and it suddenly pulled right cyclic. I got worried, brought it into a hover, and about 2 ft off the ground it went into PCM lockout. Went to idle, landed without a scratch!

Upon inspection at home, the antenna wire fell out of the entrance hole where it goes into the Revolution whip plastic housing!

Thank god I didn't chalk it up to interference and try taking it up again.

Had a spare (new ) revolution whip. On this one, I put goop on that area, to seal it and prevent any stress on he area

Gotta say, I do like the deans whip alot better, I may order one of thse instead

Nice save. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I still use the full length wire. I generally run it through a plastic tube and out the back.

Hi J.D., That was funny.

I dont use 30% because it's wear on the engine I dont need. Maybe the 15% Wildcat is why I haven't lost a bearing in any of my 9 OS heli engines in the 7 years I have been flying? Its also tough on the fuel lines not to mention expensive. Fuel here is $17 a gallon for 15%. Now, if I get a little close to the limits of power, I wont hesitate to go to the 30% but I have never needed it. I fly some inverted and such but I'm not tic-tocing at ground level to need that last squeeze of power yet.
