Hello, I am a machinist and understand that sometimes it can be a royal pain to use an indicator without a proper fixture to hold the indicator and the part you are trying to check. I was thinking of designing a fixture that would hold engines and dial indicators to make it very easy do set fan runout and even check bearings. I was trying to find out if this would be somthing people would be interested in and how I would go about selling them if something like this is not in the heli world already.
Thank you for you input,
Dave

I think it's a great idea. You could advertise in the classified section

I have always gotten by with setting my engine on a block of steel, held in place with some magnets, and my indicator has a magnetic base. With that being said, I would be open to using a dedicated device if it would really make things easier, and if it did not cost too much of course

I think it's a matter that people that want to take care of this know how without additional tools ... and others don't really care about it.

I think you should at least let us see what your idea is looking like.

I've made myself a special tool that does the job pretty well but it's always good to see what you can came up with
