Radio - Spektrum DSM > 9303+2.4 module or x9303??

has anyone flown both a 9303 with the 2.4 module and the x9303? My question is, is there a difference in feel. They say that the module isnt as fast as a straight 2.4. I have a 9303 that i just got a year or so ago. Do i put a module in it or sell it and get an x9303?

I have been using the module for the past 3 months and i haven't had a problem.
I works great and is a very cheap upgrade so i have now converted all my heli to 2.4 ghz.

I have the modual in my XP9303 and, also have a DX7, i have flown them back to back and can't feel a difference.

Over all I am glad I kept my 9303.

Also I have done this mod, made it even better!

I did the module a few months back and love it.

Solid performance from day one.

There are 2 key features that you get with the X9303 vs. a module based XP9303. The X9303 has model match and servosync.

Model match guarantees that you will never be able to control the wrong heli by forgetting to switch to it first. This will eliminate "hot starts" by having the wrong model chosen in your tx.

Servosync does exactly as it sounds. In a CCPM set up, all 3 cyclic servos receive their signal from the receiver at exactly the same time. This virtually eliminates all interaction.

Plus you don't have the cable from the module hanging out the back, just waiting to get snagged on something. Sure you can do the mod where you run the cable inside the radio, but then you void the warranty of the module.

The integrated system is just better, IMO.

Yes the integrated system is better but, the other thing you need to look at is, the 72Mhz Reciver's you already have if none, then go for the integrated, if you have an investment in 72Mhz then the mod might be the way to go.

I put a module in my XP9303 and it was great. Felt better than running PCM.

For Xmas I got an X9303. Feel is about the same, maybe a hair better. But the model match and servo synch are nice. The larger timer dispaly is WONDERFUL.

Either way, you will be happy.

I have used both. Feel is the same (as far as I could tell anyway) but Im fond of the X9303 for several reasons. First is you dont have to worrry about tearing the antenna cable, model match, worry about the nut that connects the antenna to the module coming loose. With all that being said (I own the 2.4 module upgrade) and it works great. I did it for the price difference, but if I were to have free money to spend (which I dont) I would have went with the X9303 and sold my 9303 to try and make up some of the difference.

I've been using the Module for about a week in my XP90303 now and I love it. But I hate the external wire and the goofy antenna, I feel like I'm going to break it accidentally one day.

So I'm about to buy the CX2 antenna and do the internal wiring mod. I was just wondering, does the CX2 antenna swivel so that I can rotate it and bend it to fit in my case?

Thanks!

Yes, the CX2 cable swivels 180 degrees. The mod is DEFINATELY worth doing if you are using the Spektrum module in the normal 9303. I really hated the coax on the back w/ the external ant. I always thought I was going to snag it on something and rip it out

I have too many planks and helis so I bought the DSX9 and will add more 2.4 receivers as funds allow. When they are all converted I can sell the 9xII or use it on the SIM!

Module...

I added one to my 10X last season and it works great.... but I also agree with the mod to get rid of the wire....I just could not see selling off a high end radio for a basic radio price... so the mod made sense to me...and I just about have all the rx's that I need now for everything to be converted, and later in the season I may opt for a newer radio but not for any other reason but to update.

So, what is the CX2 mod... I saw the info on the 9303 link above???

Thanks, Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

I`ve been using a module on my UK JR 3810 since Christmas - no problems at all apart from the occasional failure to bind on power up.

Just ordered a new DSX9 now though and the module arrangement will now be sold.

This was definately a great time to jump on the 2.4 bandwagon.

4 rx's for the price of 2 is good

My Tx has more of a solid link to my birds now. It's simply not worth the risk flying 72 mhz anymore with all the airplane noobs buying 72 mhz gear.

Plus, whats not to like about these current/upcoming rx's!

This is the breath of fresh air I needed in this hobby.

Big thumbs up to Paul Beard and the crew

Doorman, I read somewhere that 10X users need to have the stock antenna ball milled to accept the CX2 antenna. I guess the antenna needs to fit inside of it. Then more work done for the wire to pass through it. I'm getting serious about this mod, so will post my findings here.

Sorry for being off topic
