It's not a big deal, I just thought it odd that every pic I've seen of an Xtreme, including the pics on the RJX website (aside from 1 that I can find) all have the plates. It would be nice if the pics on the website at least reflected what was in the kits. That would prevent confusion in the future for other customers.

X-treme 50

This kit has been evolving and getting better with each build Many pilots have been giving some good idea's to the company for the benefit of all of us. I used the raptor plates on mine because there wasn't any other's, except for align who also sell them.

The best part of the whole thing is that the company is listening to good idea's and that's what will make this the best dam helicopter on the market today.

I totally agree with you. But, the reason they have the plates in the pictures are because we pictured the same machines that we use for display and we fly ourselves everyday.
I like to let You see the real deal when looking at our machines. We don't build up display machines to look pertty and go fly a different one, this way at a event you know what we'er flying is what you can check out in our tent.

I got my electronics in last night, took me WAY longer than normal, i couldn't figure out a mounting method that I liked and kept moving things around, probably spent 4 hours on it. There's plenty of room, I just have a decision making disorder (hence the 4 month buying process on the X50 itself). Nothing really to report, it's a nice design and it's easy to hide all the wires between the frames, and get things on there, and mine has everything a person could want to put on a heli (governor, 601, carbsmart, 2 in 1 reg). The only observation I have is that it's tough getting to the glow plug with the servo for the carb smart in there. Not a big deal, I can get it from an angle, I'll most likely have to use a piece of fuel tube on the end of the plug to replace it, otherwise it'd get cross threaded at the angle I need to use.

It's RTF now, hopefully I'll get a chance to get out this weekend. Here's the equipment list:

Xtreme 50 G10
Hyper 50
Funtech Pipe
3 x Ace DS1015
Hitec HS81 on throttle
GY601/9251 (Control box mounted with Zeal Gel to sit out over screws)
TJ Pro
Carbsmart/ Hitec HS55 (servo is going to be changed)
Spektrum AR7000
Align 2 in 1
3s 2100 Lipo
Radix 600mm
Align 95mm carbon tails

In all, it went together very easily, by far the hardest part was deciding where to put my electronics, I must have moved everything 20 times before being satisfied. It's nice how you can hide all the wires inside the frames, I've got them all wrapped in expandable sleeving, and they are well protected with no pulls or strain. If I were to build another one, I could have it in the air in the 7-8 hour range, now that I know how things go together, and where to put my stuff. I need to replace the servo horns with some wheels, but the ones I've got on there will be fine for the first day until I get a chance to go buy some wheels. I also need to strap down the battery better, and put together some sort of linkage for the Carbsmart.

Here's the things I'm sketchy on, one is that my kit is definitely not the same as some of the rest of the ones out there. My tail rod doesn't have the sleeves that are mentioned in this post:
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t409...?top=1203720885
Mine just has heat shrink, I've gone through all the boxes and bags, and they are not there, jsut heat shrink like the manual says. It's plenty strong the way it is JB welded up, but it's disappointing that I don't have the blingy bits. Maybe it's because I got the G10.

As I've said before, I'm not impressed with the manual. An experienced builder will get through without any real difficulty, but there will be some head scratching as not holes are depicted, and the drawings in general aren't the best on the frame assembly sections. Also, teh supplement included in the kit is nice, but why in the world isn't it part of the PDF? The whole justification that manufacturers give for not giving us paper manuals anymore is so that they can make easy changes and help us. If that's the case, then change the PDF.

Of course, I was disappointed in the tail grips being plastic with radial bearings, but I solved that with the $40 upgrade to metal thrust bearing grips.

Those are all very minor points, this is a great design. The heli is strong, well thought out, and the controls have no interactions that I can detect on the bench. There's no slop, and no evidence of cost cutting (other than those tail grips). I feel that the $600 I paid for the kit was a deal, Rusty @ RJX of USA has been great, and I'd gladly pay it again.

Eury,

The copy of the head that Rusty includes in the kit with the adendum is something that we came up with here in the US, I extracted that page from the manual and modified it with my adustments and settings that Steven is currently running on his X50 and Rusty has decided to offer it in the kit as a head setup option, that's why it isn't included in the manual, as you can imagine there are alot of different head setups and we found one that Steven is very comfortable with and we wanted to include it for others to use if they wanted to, I'm sure that others may expirement and come up with something that may be a better fit for them, we just decided now that he likes the way his flys so we arn't going to be making any changes to his team demo machine.

I'm helping Interlink with his X50 build and we will be setting that up more for a beginner, not too agressive and I will document his settings once the test flight is completed and he feels comfortable with it.

I'm also looking at getting some close up pics of the side frames depicting the mounting locations, showing the servos inserted in the frames and other helpful shots that Patriot21 brought to my attenion, to be honest I had to look at Steven's machine a few times building the other one and I've already build a few of these, this is what makes the machine better is the feed back we get on the forums, the owner of RJX is very responsive to what the Distributors provide in the form of suggestions, so I'm hoping to discuss the ability of getting the side frame pics either included in the manual or have them available for download or an area to view them.

Thanks for the build info, I knew once you got your hands on one you'ld be impressed.

Take care,

Clyde

Thanks, that one's just fer lookin at. I cut all the wires off and threw them away to make it prettier.

Just gotta be creative, there's plenty of room inside the frames for everything. I'll be moving the Carbsmart inside the frames, and re routing the wires from the 601 after a few flights to make sure the bugs are all shaken out before I get really creative.

Eury,.,
I see you used the star servo horns... I was going to but i could not get it to mount on the servo at perfectly 90 degrees... when i put them on i had to put at least 20+ OR - SUBTRIM in just to get it the 90... did yours mount up right at 90 or straight up and down with the servo or did you have to use subtrim

They are offset, so if you keep turning the stars, they line up differently. All of mine lined up with 0 subtrim after trying a few different positions. I'm probably going to swap out the stars with wheels and drill them, just for the sake of rigidity and having some extra material around the balls. The nice thing about the Futaba stars is the last hole on them is exactly at 13.5mm, so no drilling necessary.

That manual is much better than before, the highlighted assembly holes solve a big part of the problem I had with it.

Interlink just left with his G-10 X50, he's been here since 10am and it's ready for a maiden flight in the morning. He forgot his camera but I'm sure he will take pics tomorrow, he told Steven he wanted to take a shot with his heli inverted 2" off the ground

Hey Rusty, heli looks great, Bill is very happy.
