RJX Hobby Hurrican 50 - Xtreme 50 > Metal Gear servos?

I was reading the manual in preparation for my X50 that'll be here tomorrow, and saw that it says not to use plastic geared servos with the head having the aggressive settings. Really? Is anyone using plastic geared servos with the head set aggressively? If you can't do that, then it really knocks out a huge number of possible servos.

The best plastic geared servos I have seen are the Hitecs. You shouldn't have a problem with them. Personally I've had easy breakages with JR plastic gears.

The Futaba BLS451 or S9451's are a good choice.

They don't make the 9451's that I'm running but the 9452 replacements are just as good.

I read that too. I decided to go with JR 8717's in my G10 Xtreme and Airtronics 94758's in my CF Xtreme. Can't wait to try them out!

OK, so no one is running plastic gears on the aggressive settings, then? I'll see what I can dig up, I didn't want to buy new servos, and I just went through the trouble of pulling the JR 8301s out of my Evo.

Eury both patriot21 and I are running 9252s. But no hard flying yet. So I hope they hold. Hopefully someone that has ran plastic hard will comment.

I'll just bite the bullet and go to the LHS tomorrow. Now I REALLY have to sell another heli.

They should work good, I had them in my fury 90. Put them on 6 volts and let them go.
For me I will put the 8717 in my 50.
I have 9351 in my raptor 50 on 6 volts and it go's pretty good

Yeah, that's what's strange to me, these servos rocked in my Evo, and I ran a set of 9252s in a Fury in the past with no problems, but I figure that someone must have had a problem at some point, otherwise, why put it in the manual? I can get a new set of 9452s from Tower for $205 to my door, maybe I'll do that if I don't find something at the LHS tomorrow. I know they have the 8717s there, but I really don't want those with the incredible amp draws they have. I've got 9451s in my 600N, and they are great, so I'll probably end up going with the 9452s.

I ran 8311's (plastic geared) in my Predator with full metal head. I used 9252's in my Raptor 50 w/ Kasama head and my Tempest with the 3D head. I never had any problems, except when the heli hit terra firma.

That's actually pretty good on the 9452s, $75 a piece, then I've got a coupon. I'm going to sleep on it anyways, and go to the LHS first, they always take care of me since I buy 95% of my stuff there.

Cool.. Keep us informed. I am planning on putting some 8717's once Uncle Sam decides to deposit my tax return in my account.

On my first X-50 I used HS-6965HB they never gave me any problems. They run at 136oz, .08sec @ 6v. Not bad! They even went through a total,I mean total destruction of my heli and din't strip the karbonite gears. Of course now on my second X-50 I use the 8717's.
When I rebuild number one I will still use HS-6965HB

Once you run the 8717's,you will never look back My freind. As light as the X50 fly's,the amp draw is not really that bad.

Well, the kit just came, so I'm off to the LHS to look at servos. Very nice package, beautiful paint on the canopy, nice box, well packed. Good job, RJX.
