Those are finishing caps for the carbon tail rods. Once you epoxy the long threaded rods in, scuff about 1/2" of each end of the carbon rod. Then epoxy the aluminum caps on as well. This pretty much eliminates the chance of the carbon rod splitting. Also ream out the hole of the carbon tail rod before inserting the the threaded rod. It is a tight fit and you could end up splitting the end of the carbon rod. Just use a drill bit that is slightly larger than the threaded rod.

Take a look in my gallery on the machine with the blue canopy especially the one with the muffler towards you and you will see where they go. They guard against the carbon rod from fraying or spliting length wise near the ends of the Cf rod.

Here's a pic. Judging by your quesitons I'm slightly ahead of you in the build process. Electronics go in tomorrow. I've got a 5 day weekend and am loving it. I'm taking my time and hoping to get everything right the first time through.

Be extremely carefull when glueing these. I have had two failures.
Use 24h epoxi, nothing else! Also, be absolutly shure that you get the rods in straight, if not, they will/can break right off.

I've used JB Weld on my Central Hobbies carbon rod sets on my entire fleet, even my 450 T-Rex has an 1/8" carbon rod.

I've never had one fail or come loose, make sure it's not the 5 minute stuff, I let mine setup over night.

I noticed that my threaded rods fit very tight in the carbon, causing the carbon to split slightly. I just slipped the aluminum sleeve over the carbon tube, to keep it from spliting, and enlarged the hole carefully with a drill bit. This way I had a little extra room in the carbon rod for the glue and threaded rod.
