e-copter Senior Heliman Location: Nice, France
| Hi,
yes we make custom canopies molds and paintings ( if you look on Blitz website on the picture slideshow, there is one same we made, but with blue candy " Blitz" logo, for Blitz Helicopters .But i can't advertise on RR . i'll put a picture of teh other one later.
Well regarding the dumbest crash, it's mroe than 10 years that i build and setup helicopters for people and never had any problems.
On the Avro, it was one of the forst batches and i was translating the manual in French, so i did read, build, unbuild and made corrections for the french manual, and well i was preparing Nuremberg toy fair and scale fuselages milling at the same time so i did the Avro build very late during nights.
Then i was totally excited and we took the Avro to go to the field with Dominique Buhn, and could not resist to give it a go.. And flew something like 2 minutes...; We landed witht he main gear and rotor head beeing retained by the torque tube conical gear (lol) and severe vibrations, and the heli once landed felt on the side like a big stone, in a cow sh..t . Yeah... ...
Well after deeeeeeeeep inspection, when i de-built and re-built the heli for the manual writing, i just forgot to put loctite on one full side of the heli and i even did not tightened the screws. As i did that very late, then stopped for one week and went back on the heli, i just did not give a final look ( shame on me ).
All i can say is that the Avro is a VERY robust heli, i only damaged the frames becasue of teh crown gear ripping in the frame, the upper bearing block was just not retained anymore as the screws escaped with the vibrations.
I was already paranoid about safety on gaz helicopters, now i twice more even hehehe..
it's now rebuilt with extra strong loctite and triple checked, and all i can say is that it's one of the best and strongest heli i've flown so far with my 3DNT. ))
BEst regards,
