Hey Guys,

How do they balance on the high point or is there no need to balance them.

Thanks

I've got mine all installed .. I probably tightened mine down too tight. It's out to .001.

I just finally got everything together after more than a month of downtime. All I need now is some weather like we had last weekend.

I'm excited to give it a try.

If you're mounting it on a 91ST, the runout may be from the crank itself.

It's on an OS91 csps with the SZ carb (60MC) modded by OMI.

I didn't think to check runout before I put the engine back together. I did the runout check with the piston in place and the backplate and head on, but without glow plugs or the carb installed. I wonder if this influences the result a bit? I hear you should check runout without the piston installed. True?

With this rebuild I replaced the engine bearings and added a viper head. Also swapped out the 601 for a 770.. and replaced all my plumbing and clunk lines.

It's going to be like flying a whole different heli.

Are there any other options out there to replace the Stratus fan other than the Maryland fan and where are they sold? How good are they as an alternative?

I used the stock fan and had no problem dialing it in. Am I missing something?

I know this is a little off the subject but my recently built Stratus has some swashing of the fuel in the tank in low hover.

The fan is well balanced and dial indicated to the appropriate level.

Is this potentially normal with a new YS engine (long stroke) that I'm breaking in with rich settings?

I was thinking of getting the Maryland fan as another option to try to smooth out the fuel and potentially stop some small vibration.

In another model I fly (the hirobo Chinook), the manual states that the fuel should stay level in the tank in hover and it does (unless something is out of balance)

i use the stock fan and had no issues getting it dialed under .001. i never understood the need for an aftermarket fan on the stratus when the stock one is a perfectly balanced aluminum one.

Edited... Got the first part the fan down as per the instruction I later found on this site. By heating it, it slid down nicely..

The question I have now is how the heck do you find a thin enough wall socket to get down there to tighten that nut down.. I have a really thin walled socket and it is just barely to wide to slide down the shaft..I have only been able to get needle nose plyers down so far to tighten down the nut, doubt that is adequate though.
