Im not using the stock coupler anymore, it was de-laminating the rubber off
Ive gotten some silicon automotive heater hose, so far so good.
Tight fit without clamps, however I will run them again.
I already know about over tightening the muffler lol.

In the pic it looks like you have quite a large gap between your muffler and the header??

If you bling it, they will come :D

In the pic it also looks like the header bolts are going in at an angle.

Thanks Fixit for noticing that, but it is not angled, it only appears like that because of my angled shots

Gorn,

Yeah, that's the stock spacer. I put two of them as I've told you before.

Gorn: don't forget to put the clamp even if it is tight fit, it may lossen up when heated . . .just to be safe

So far I am good with the tuning of my engine. but I would try your suggestion CAP. by the way, do I need just to screw in the 4mm? what is the purpose of that if you would want to share? anyway thanks for your suggestion.

Hmmm, I would have thought if that vented into the crankcase that it would leak oil if there was no screws installed?

If you bling it, they will come :D

Crankase Holes

I just checked the mounting holes on a spare G231 Puh and the lower screw holes on both sides of the engine do indeed go straight through into the open crankcase.i can push a probe in at least 2 inches on either side.I have always used these holes for mounting points but never realised that they were open to atmosphere.

Crankase Holes

What i meant, that it does not apply to my installation, but in the pics in the forum the engine shown has these holes completely unplugged. This was the point C.A.P was making.

..wasn't being critical.. just wondering what happens when plugged and threadlocked to any x/s threadlock..

Got me thinking now.

pgkevet.I have just fitted new engines to both my gassers and i will be checking both for air leaks when i get home tonight.Cant remember if all the holes are plugged on both helis or not. This is a very valid point C.A.P has made,i wonder how many other people did not realise this and have had engine tuning problems because of it.It is unusual for an external mount to be drilled through into the case.

The reason I ask was in the middle picture there are two small screw holes on the crank case. The bottom one is where the stock zenoah muffler screwed in. That hole and the one on the other side of the motor go through and into the engine crank case. They must have 4mm screw in them or the motor will run lean and hot. You will not be able to do a good tune job. This a must!!! Wally

I bet most of the gasser community will be sitting there with dropped jaws after reading that, I for one am puzzled.

It is a new one on me that’s for sure and I've never come across this in all the info I've read on RR about gassers, I have three at the moment and all three have these holes open or at least one is.

I don’t doubt what C.A.P is saying for one second and I will be glued to this forum to see what people say and do about these bolt holes in the future.

..when i get home I suppose the first thing will be to pull the plug and depth probe those holes while slowly hand turning to see if I can feel antything snagging the probe...

Hang on Guys

I just double checked my spare engine and the holes are just below the main sealed crankcase. On first impression it does appear that the holes to go clear into the case, but in fact they are just below the main sealed crankcase area.Had me going for a bit there. If you hold the engine up to the light you can see right through to the hole on the other side but it does not interfere with the main crankcase compression area.

Interesting, On my engines the holes are blind. It doesn't make sense to have it all the way through because it would require sealant even if the screw is present or it would leak.

What could be more fun?

Just had along talk with Billme about the post. When people here give you a good credit rating. Watch the statements you make as someone will take it seriously. And will try it, So I edited the statement out. So no one will take there engines apart.
