man I have got to do this....been wanting to do it for a LONG while.....but last week when I figured out what was wrong with the head on the HBK(another story....human error )I was REALLY checking out the head closely...and it seems 99% of my slop is in 2 places....1 the swash(original, almost a year old...hundreds of flights, dozens of crashes),the top half is seperating from the bottom ,no matter how much I tighten the screws, which I have a new one sitting here...and 2 the z bends and links.....after many many flights and repairs/rebuilds...the hole in the servo arm has REALLY widened, allowing LOTS of slop...and certain links have really loosened...which actually I think the plastic ball has worn.....so in short...I think eliminating the Z bends and getting some new balls/links...would really tighten up the head nicely...this will be part of my spring upgrade along with the new gyro/servo

Here's parts update. User jh1947 over on HF did this upgrade using the parts from the Belt CP Servo Linkage Rod set EK1-0548 ($5.25). I was planning on ordering the kit just to see what comes with it. I'm guessing those are aluminum balls which is bad, but there's a better selection of rods, which is good. Plus it includes ball links. If you are planning to do this mod, it might be worth it to order this kit. If the balls end up being aluminum, go ahead and get the B400 balls and use the rods and ball links from this kit. I'm still planning on ordering some and when I do, I'll update the thread with the results.

I went with the originally posted ones on the beginning of the thread. Works well, no issues seen. Much better that Z bend !!!

I use the BeltCP ball and link package. Seems to be less random drift and a little less jumpy on collective.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

What mods did you have to do to make the belt cp package work?

Okay. I have completed this conversion. Its so very simple. All you need is the belt cp links listed above. Everything went together very well. I dont know why the King doesnt come this way.Its a 4 dollar pack of links. Maybe King 3 will come that way.

toolman18,

since I have to order parts for the HBKII, I'd like to know if there are enough rods (for each of the three servos) of the correct length in the EK1-0548 kit. I see only one size that has three each.

Brad,

Does the Belt kit come with enough of the correct length rods? I can't tell from the picture. If you use the B400 rod set, there's only one rod per packet that is the correct lenght. So you have to buy 3 packs.

Greg,
Yes. I bought only the one pack from the belt cp parts list and everything i needed was in it. I even had extra parts. Works like a charm. No modifications to the links. It should come that way. Dont know why it doesnt.

I was referring to the Eflight Blade 400 linkage pack, which is different than the Esky Belt link pack. I wasn't aware of the Belt pack when I did conversion otherwise I would have gone that route.

My mistake, not reading closely enough. I'll get a pack next order. Unfortunately my last order shipped today.

ok, I am the latest to make this conversion to my king.

WOW, talk about making the cyclic responsive!!!!

After the conversion I had to put the front servo ball link to the inside due to hitting the 3800 motor.

Then I spent about 2 and a half packs dialing in linkages.

Now for the first time I have been able to get consistant 5-20 second hands free hovers. Big difference, maybe now the different orientation hovering will be a little bit easier.

THANKS GREGGOR! excellent directions.
