There is AC power available in the pits. As for a street address, I don't have it but it would be the interection of Olens Rd. and Katy Hockley Rd. I kind of doubt Olens will be in a GPS database though as it's just a dead end dirt road.

For directions try here and pick your direction of arrival.

Tomorrow should be great...looking at possibly having an impromptu 3D contest sometime tomorrow if enough folks are interested. Field is in GREAT condition and everybody is stoked...don't miss this folks...you'll be sorry !!!

well Micros and Minis are really gonna have a hard time today and tomorrow the winds are showing a steady 15-20mph from the SSE
I guess I'm not bringing my FP300s as that kinda wind would smash them down.

guess I'll come watch the big ones fly.

Well,
Dylan and I had a lot of fun. There was a lot of really great flying in spite of the wind. The auto contest was a blast! Dylan asked me to tell Duane "there's always next time" LOL. And as for mark, well we were very happy to see you honored by the Lesbian Whale Watcher's of America and we hope you have a nice spot to display your award!

Winning the drag races was definitely a highpoint for Dylan. Once we got the problem figured out (with the help of "eagle eye" Ron Lund) the N9 was running GREAT!!!

The night flying and Fireworks Display was an awesome show!!! I think that was my wife and daughter's favorite part of the funfly. I'll be working on a short video and will post it here when it's done. Give me a little time though as I have a very full plate this week at work.

The Pilot prizes were top notch! Many many thanks to all of the guys at Space City who helped to put on this event.

Creighton put on an impressive show each time he flew. I was sure he was going to grab mother earth e few times but he just kept snipping the grass and popping that machine back into the sky with the authority of a true professional.

I would also likr to thank Kenny Mcdonald for making the journey all the way down here from Washington state! He seemed to be a really great Kid and is definitely one of the stronger pilots out there! Great job Kenny!

And as usual, many thanks to Ron and Nathan of Heliproz South for Supporting the funfly! I tend to call this a sport not a hobby and in that regard Ron is a real ATHLETIC SUPPORTER!!! Thanks Guys.

I hope we will see all of you soon!!!!!

Glad everybody had fun...I know we enjoyed putting the event on.

Special Thanks to John Holmes of Larry's Hobbies here in Houston and to Ron and Nathan of Ron's HeliProz South for their continuing support of this event. Also to Scott from Cajun Helicopters for providing on site parts support for the few crashes that did occur.

Big thanks to Mark, Doug, Chuck, Ed and our one other night flyer (whose name I failed to remember...my apologies, the gray matter isn't what it used to be)...you guys all made the night fly EXCELLENT (even though I thought we might be spending the night trying to track down Mark's heli right there at the end ).

Thanks also to all the folks from CYE for coming out and showing off the Rave and other CY goodies. Thanks Brian for ALMOST answering those sneaky questions and making sure we keep watching for "interesting" things from CYE (and thanks the Hat and T-Shirt...sorry about all the begging and pleading !!!). Make sure Zack lets us know where we can see our 15 seconds of fame .

The field was quiet today and most folks are probably on their way home. Brian and Kenny, our two visitors from Oregon got in a couple of flights this morning and are on their way to Galveston for a few days of kite surfing (they set up one of the rigs this morning on the field....that is one BIG kite ).

Inky, we'll see you next year if not before amigo.

For EVERYONE who attended this weekend, a very sincere "Thank You" from Ty, John, myself and all of us at Space City for coming out and sharing our love of the hobby. You all had a part in making this our best funfly yet. We can't do it without all of you.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled program...

Even though I got beat in the auto contest by a young guy and some other old people I had a great time Friday and Saturday. I met some very nice folks and I think I got one of them hooked on doing autos. He was on that new trainer box about every time I was doing autos. I'll bet we'll see him out there next year.

The auto competition was the best I have ever seen it. The wind was tough and so was all the competition. Of course the auto master won first place again. Some how we need to find a way to gang up on Ron Lund or make him use a 450. Dylan wait until I get my 90 size helicopter. I'll delay the auto contest by hovering over the spot. Mark Conroy I did not even see you practice before the contest. You did great in the sudden death with Dylan. I am sure glad you made him work so hard.

I enjoyed starting the drag races as much as I do running in them. It's a riot to watch all the action going on. Mark C dragging the nose of his heli all the way down the course, Creighton running on fumes to lighten the helicopter (was that an auto I saw?) and of course that Dylan blowing everybody away. AGRAV8 where were you?

For those of you that could not make it you missed a great time. The Space City folks did it again! Great events, food, prizes, and a well run FF by TY, Ralph, and John.

See you next year.

Thanks----

Back in the "real world" this morning and I'm just sitting at my desk thinking about the great weekend, good times, good friends and how I look forward to the next gathering! My wife commented and it is truly the case that our hobby or sport is filled with really nice individuals and a lot of fun. It is a pleasure for me to participate in putting on our annual funfly and my one regret is that I don't get to see and fly with many of the folks who attended more often. A few of us resolved to try and visit each other's fields more frequently this season and I look forward to it.

The flying was amazing to watch this year. Dylan, Creighton and Kenny had no fear of mother earth's pull and won the battle most of the time. Really fun to watch and a vivid reminder of how great the divide is between their flying and my own (I need to burn a lot more fuel.).

Repeating many of Ralph's comments, I genuinely thank everyone who attended and supported our funfly this year and hope you all had a fun weekend. Please come fly with us as our guests before June 2009 if you can, and if not, hopefully see you in 2009!

Thanks again,

Ty

Great Time

Had a great time at this event. Ty, Ralph, and the crew did an awesome job with organizing everything. Creighton, thanks for the loan of your N9 in the auto contest. That ship of yours flies like a champ! I have the pump back on the .91, will be doing some tuning this evening at the house. Thanks Brian (CY Enterprises) for the detailed explanation on back pressure issues and fine tuning needed to be done on this. Your insight helped out a bunch.

Take care and look forward to seeing you guys again soon.
