Landing Fee---

We're thinking $20 for the landing fee and instead of providing an included meal Saturday evening for the registered pilots, we would probably make a run to Domino's Pizza or possibly Church's Fried Chicken, depending on what folks wanted to do.

How about this...we'll have the FF in June as planned, but when you get back in August, you can come on out and fly with us anyway!! We'll make it a mini funfly with no fee . Either way, come on out and visit .

New To Houston

Hello, I'm new to Houston area. I'm From Oklahoma and now live in houston. Me and my dad will be coming to Katy,Funfly. My dad was wanting to know where good helicopter hobby shops are in houston area. He is wanting to buy some Curtis Youngblood fuel or wildcat fuel. Also good Hobbyshop that carries Raptor Parts. Talk to you soon.Bye mike

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the Houston area!! We're really glad to hear you and your Dad will be attending the funfly, it should be a GREAT time .

One of the sponsors of our event is Larry's Hobbies (281 443-7373). They are about the best heli shop in Houston. You can find them at the corner of FM 1960 and I-45. John stocks a boatload of Raptor parts and carries a pretty good selection of TRex stuff as well. He has had the Youngblood fuel in the past and may still carry it (I'm not sure since I use CP30). He definitely stocks the Cool Power but I'm not sure about Wildcat.

You really only have two decent choices in the Houston area - Larry's Hobbies on 45 at 1960 and RC Hobby Shop on 59 at Sugar Creek. Larry's is your best bet for Raptor parts. Both places carry them but Larry's usually has better stock, and carries the 90 parts as well.

Hi,

I am coming to the fun fly on Saturday, but not sure I want to bring my helicopter. Never been to a fun fly in the US, so I am not sure how it works...How do you guys take turns flying? Do I need to bring my own tent for shade...tell me how it works

Hi Henrik,

We certainly hope you will bring your heli out with you when you come...the flying is the best part of the event .

We have a large, very open field to fly from and have room for 6-7 pilot stations with simultaneous operations from each station. The normal practice is for anyone who wants to fly to wait for an open station then start up and go for it. If for any reason you're not comfortable at that level we have a hover and setup area at one end of the field and are anticipating using a large open space at the other end of the field in a similar fashion (hover, setup, auto and such)...much like the Larks club does in Sulphur during the Mayday event.

We do have some permanent tables, available on a first come first serve basis, available to set-up on (I think there's 10 of them, but don't quote me ), but you are also more than welcome to bring your own canopy and setup under it (there is plenty of room for lots of canopies and that is what "most" people will probably do).

Take a look at the Space City Website and click on the Gallery link...there are loads of pictures of the field and some from past events that may answer your questions. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me here and I'll do my best to answer or find the right person to answer your questions.

Hope to see you this weekend...

Thanks Mike...we have everything ready for this years event...I think we're going to use little butane torches to light the fuses this year so make sure you're flame proof this time !!!!!
