Synergy R/C Synergy N9 > 4mm Flybar conversion.

I destroyed my stock SAB paddles and I wouldn't be wiling to pay 50 dollars for a new pair. So I decided to convert mine into using 4mm flybars so that I can get a pair of raptor 90 paddles for 12 dollars . Here is the detail:

- Use a pair of 4x10x4 ball bearings. You can find them at www.sdp-si.com or www.rcheli.com. These will replace the current 5x10x4 bearings in the seesaw.

- Use two of these spacers:

The spacers, which you usually find them useless, can be found in every mainblade kit.

- Stratus flybars are a good choice. Raptor 90 ones are too short.

- Pull the old bearings out and put the new ones (4x10x4) in. Slide the flybar through the flybar cage and the seesaw then insert the spacers in place carefully on each side. Screw in the 3mm set screws at both sides so that the screws will leave a mark on each spacer. Use a dremel or a drill to drill out a 3mm hold right on the marks. So the set screws will go through the holds and have a direct contact to the flybar.

Finally, align and tighten the flybar in place as you guys always do but having the spacers properly placed on each side.

The 4mm flybar not only gives us many choices of paddles, it also saves some weight. IMO, a 4mm flybar does improve the cyclic rate on my Synergy...

I did something similar to mine but without changing the bearings: I just slid a 5x4mm brass tube inside the seesaw (the entire lenght), drilled the holes for set screws and used a 555mm Avant or Hirobo flybar.

iachia: I was thinking of the same way you did (without changing the bearings) but I destroyed the bearing in last crash so I just used the new ones. However, I would recommend not to change the bearings because you can still use the 5mm stock flybars in some cases.

why not

just drill the red raptor paddles to fit the original flybar? i believe this has been the easiest solution if you don't want to buy the 5mm sab's

You'll find that with a 4mm flybar the heli is much more reactive. The problem is not the SAB paddles (I put the same SAB paddles in 4mm version).

I found that after I did the conversion. The heli is now faster than before.

What paddles are you guys flying with the 4mm? I got a pair of Stubz, but they seem small, and are recommended at headspeeds over 1900.

495mm flybar seems a little bit on the short side to me.
I don't remember the stock flybar lenght but I'm quite sure it's longer than that.
As I said before I used a 555mm and I think it's spot on

I'm using the Stratus flybar. Not sure about the length either but its just slightly shorter than the stock ones.

For paddles, I'm using the X-cell 3D paddles (white color)

The cyclic rate on mine right now is insane. I love it so much!

Hi, sorry for the delayed reply!
As I said in a previous post I'm using the same SAB paddles in 4mm as I think they're the one of the best available. I've done the 4mm conversion as I think the heli is more reactive this way, not just to use different paddles.
