| Tank 7 todaySo, need a .61 for flying in Denver, eh? Sure, if you're an advanced pilot.
Starting to feel more comfortable flying the investment, and starting leaning out the engine today as I've been running quite rich to break in the .50 hyper. Ok, it was obvious to me on the first tank I had more power in the 50 hyper Pantera running really rich than I do in my OS .32 powered shuttle. Today with 600mm Audacity wood blades, somewhere in the mid 80s ambient and I started turning in the main needle. Dang this thing makes power. Using the PDR0053-2 - Pro Muffler, Mk II and 30% it had way more guts than I imagined based on what I read about needing a .61 here. Puts my MX400 to shame too. I just need to find enough time to fly to get my skills ready for that .70 BBC on my shelf. I still need to tune the engine, figure my throttle curve, but playing around toward the end of the tank with some serious full climbs, it really took off.
So, between a power rush, and nearly trashing my MX400 because I was screwing around inverted, great day (45 min) of flying! Hope I can carve out at least an hour this weekend.
On other notes, I know it's all about carbon blades, however I'm running wood until I know me and the machine are tuned to each other, just to minimize rebuild costs. If anyone wants 600mm wood blades, John's AUD1519 blades are awesome! I may not have a lot of experiance in the heli corner in general, but trust me, I've had to buy and balance a lot of wood blades over the years of owning my shuttle and I've NEVER had a set of blades better matched, better finished, or better blade ends. They were closer than the Mavrikk carbons I have yet to fly.
