I have a Predator 90 and I got the Finer Edge Makita Adaptor and the 18v battery, this combo is a powerhouse and turns the 90 over with ease. I have a Sullivan Dynatron and High Torque starters. I cannot get a starter want to keep from slipping on the starter shaft. I have used the Mavrikk and the K&S wands, both seem to be just a little to big in the shaft bore to get a good clamp. My question is, does the Sullivan Starting wand fit securely on the starter shaft and not slip. I am about ready to go back to the rubber cup method. Please advise a good Starter Wand for my Sullivan Starters

I know how you feel with the tips rounding off so easily. I have been through plenty of starter wands in the past. I bought this Sullivan Starter Wand recently and its probably one of the best I have ever used. Unscrews easily for storage and has ball bearings that shouldn't lockup like the cheapy one-way bearing'd ones (KSJ/helimax/etc). Heres where you can get em!

Although I have never owned one, my buddies old Robbe starter wand started everything at the field with no problems. Even with stripped out starter adapters, this thing still spun em.

IMHO these are two of the nicest wands that I have personally come across and used. Price is steap, but you get what you pay for!

Hope this helps!

PS: And Yes, the Sullivan wand does fit very securely on the starter shaft and doesn't slip.

Thanks S76 Mech

If the Sullivan Starter wand fits tight in the shaft then i think i will order one. For some reason the Mavrikk and K&S just dont clamp as good as they should on the Sullivan Starters, they did work well on my Hobbico. Thanks for the info, HammerTm2

I may be wrong (correct me if I am) But I thought I remember my sullivan starter screw to the shaft... being impossible to slip..?

Anyway, I have the "old" version of the shaft (not the beefed up version) and never had a problem starting my YS91, cold or hot weather.

I had the issue with the old shaft tip stripping after about a month but Sullivan sent me a replacement one free and never had any problem after that (2+ years) The tip still looks new.

Excellent product, I make it try to everybody at the field who are still using their wobbling rubber cup just to see their face

No, it doesn't screw on, it clamps on and is tightened with 2 set screws, be sure not to overtighten them as they will strip out.

I found that I needed to drill a small hole in the dynatron shaft and use a steel pin, with a KSJ starter wand.

I used a drill press, and took my time drilling the hole. You wouldn't believe how soft the motor shaft is on a dynatron. If you drop it on the cup, I guarantee it will bend. It is really soft, which surprised me.

Anyway, it works like a charm. I use the finer edge adapter and 18v makita battery.

I may not be able to turn a kit into a plane, but I can turn a plane into a kit...
