wow it is expensive.
7ch is about $250
9ch is about $450
12ch is about $1500
14ch is about $2300
hmm what if use two 7ch radios...
2 X 7ch is 14ch.
I might use 2 radios instead of paying $2300 if I need more than 9ch.

the 12x is a very nice radio. If I had the money laying around I would snag one in a heart beat.

its not about being realistic its about luxury, I guess its kind of like having heated and cooled seats in a car.

None, BUT, holding my DX7 in my hands makes me cringe.

He does what hes paid to do, and changes like the wind.

And he could make any heli look good (using a tv remote)

Nice stuff. I want one

It's more radio than most will ever need or use! But
at $2300 It would give you bragging rights at a fun fly

Nah, I'd have to say its how well you fly for bragging rights. Your TX will not fly your heli for you.

Wow, that's pricey. I think I'd rather have the MZ for a few hundred more. I could be biased though.

Never fails, always lots of haters simply cause they can't afford it. Sad, enjoy what you can afford, and don't knock everything else simply because of the price tag.

With that said, I have both the 14MZ 2.4 and 12X 2.4 on backorder, now to decide which to keep...

I must admit that I can't understand why people would be surprised at the sticker on this radio. It is afterall JR's flagship, premium radio. Surely guys didn't think is was going to cost $1000, did they??? If it's more radio or features than you need, then don't buy it. Just PLEASE, and I say this as a MZ driver who has seen this before, don't flame the guys who DO have the money to buy one, CAN use a lot of its features, OR EVEN want one "just because they can".

I'll be getting one, but I don't know when. It won't be soon, I'd rather let it "bed" in well first. I don't want to be a beta tester.

I'm still very happy with my 10X, never had a problem with it.

This hobby is about fun. If someone enjoys owning something premium, don't fault them for it.

looks like they got rid of the touch screen of the 10x in preference of the interface on the 9...**** THAT!

put a touchscreen back on it, cheapskates...was the big reason most of us stuck with the 10x anyways!

The only problem is after getting used to the hi end radios all the others feel like toy radios. I don't mind paying more for a nice Transmitter since I've never crashed one. Allthou I did see a guy chuck a $200 Tx about 75 feet

If it's gonna happen it'll happen up there!

KC,

Of course you haven't been one of the pilots who did feedback for it. My instructor does not like the touchscreen, simply because he says it can "wear out" and also you can accidentally short certain bits of it when moisture/damp hits it. He basically flies every day so he puts his to a lot of use - unlike some of us here.

JR don't change things unless they have damn good reason to, that's what they're like, and I respect them for that. I don't know what the touch screen on the 14MZ is like, but 12X without it is definitely not going to put me off owning one.

High end transmitters

I have bought things that I thought were a "good value" and have been disappointed because they were just plain cheap. I am not sure I can remember any premium product I have purchased that I have regretted.

I have a Futaba 12FGH and was worried if it was a good decision. Now that I have it there is no doubt that it is worth it to me. Having said that I also fly planks that have 10 servos. Regardless these radios don't make it harder they make it easier. When you create a new model it asks you how many ailerons, flaps and elevators it has or what swash type if it is a heli. You answer and bingo most of the hard work is done. Because of this capability you do less mixing of your own on these radios. Servo neutral is a really neat set up tool for helicopters.

I am sure the premium JR will be a great radio as well. If you can afford one of the premium radios I will wager that you won't regret it. If you can't then not to worry, the much less expensive radios will serve you well.

We should compare it to the cost of a boat or something like that.
What are the best two days of most boat owners? The day they buy it and the day they sell it.
All the other days when its not in use, its just a place to throw money.
So, these prices are reasonable for what we get. Its a free market and you can spend as little or much as you want.
I've personally bought a JR X347 PCM, a nice TX in its day, XP9303 and most recently the JR X9303 2.4Ghz.

My only complaint is the resale value for barely used transmitters.
