If you dont have tools to remove the pinion, and want the whole assembly, would you call it the rear assembly, or something else? Im trying to explain that for Gerd, but he doesnt understand

Oh, I fully understand!
You have no snap ring pliers and we currently have no complete gears in stock. One important part is in production.

We can either send you an assembled shaft 747 (with 423,69,216) like to Noobs or you must send the gear or shaft to us and we will change the pinion.

A letter needs only 2-3 days, why it is so urgent now? You have written the model has flown up today only 60 minutes.

Exactly Gerd, i finally got the bird in the air due to my lack of knowledge and difficulty of getting help from the right people, ive been missing income between 5-10 000€ each month (which of course isnt your fault) but since i now finally have got this flying, my time is valuable because i need as many hours practising as possible since the weather and seasson we now are entering would be the best time for me, THEREFORE it is very frustrating that i now have to sit and wait yet another week due to the fact that you have made this mistake several times.
So sorry for beeing a little frustrated...

I wont have time to dissasemble the unit now before next tuesday due to traveling, thats why i asked for the ready assembled unit so i could start emediatelly when getting back, then i could save some time...

Thanks!

This topic has started weeks ago now and when you are alone and need help why you look here not more often? RR is the (inofficial) discussion group for Joker owners and here you get no good help ?

We will send you today an assembled shaft and a snap ring pliers and please send this tool and the now unnecessary change parts we sent yesterday to you back to us. And of course the shaft with the wrong pinion, I must see it, because here nobody can explain, how these two units could be changed. Jokers and Maxi-Jokers we always assemble and pack separately.

Wow, you're missing 10,000 Euro's of income each month from your ap business, and you don't have a backup? Seems like a bad business move, especially since you could pay for a whole joker in a weeks time. You're lucky Gerd is a great guy, cause rushing this stuff, just cause you're mad your helicopter isn't working isn't the way to do this right. Also, how are you making money, if you're still in the practicing stage? Gerd- my flybarless maxi is flying great! I think I'm going to buy that nice a.p. carbon gear you're starting to offer.

Rhett... I can't fly, luckily the HC Profi Can!

So, this has suddenly all become my fault and im the one to blame?

Gerd and i have settle things, and yes, hes a great guy...

Since youre so curious about my businnes i will give you my life story;
Im working as a professional photographer, and been doing allot of real estate photo the past year, i bought a MJ2 of Gerd last fall, to expand my services, since im a newbie to this, things have taken much longer time than expected, there are allot of so called helpfull people here in norway, but they never seem to have time to help after all, they just like to brag about how helpful they could be to me, anyway, without certain people here on RR i wouldnt be able to get anywhere with this, so all my gratitue to those.

The thing is, that the brokers i work for (theres quite alot of them) they have been asking me regurlarelly for months now if im ready to start my AP part as they very often need AP on their objects, and with all that demand, i have figured out how much money i can earn when im ready, and even more in periods.

Two weeks ago, i finally got the bird in the air flying nicely, and this week i heard about Rossauros incident, and found out right after that i had got the same wrong part, thats why i got frustrated, when i heard it could take a while before getting back in air, but as i said, Gerd called me yesterday and we have come to an agreement which im satisfied with, and i hope you are to

Have a nice weekend, flying out to Copenhagen tomorrow..

Rroback:

Thanks for the tip on the new AP landing gear for the Joker2. I just ordered one from Gerd. Depending on the mail service from Deutschland, I'll let you know how it works out. It looks like it should save quite a bit of weight over the alternatives that I have been using.

Daytona:

You are lucky the real estate market is doing well in Scandinavia. Here in the USA it is pretty much in the tank.

If you have a question about your Joker, post it here. Chances are someone has already had the problem before. The search function is very useful, too.

Steve S.

Well after the rebuild I flew the MJ2 for the first time today.

First let me tell you of a little crash previous to this one.

The first crash I thought was a case of VRS but it wasn't. The heli came down hard as there wasn't enough head speed. The head speed was fluctuating due to the tail pinion. It was too tight. Tail was also wagging. Anyway the heli came down hard. At the time I did not know about the tail pinion. The damages were broken tail blades, tail slider, Vario landing gears, lower frames and the two #729 lower frame plates. ESC connectors were slightly bent but working. Tail boom just very slightly bent but still good. Tail boom support came off the ends but did not break.

All broken parts were replaced shortly afterwards then that's when the tail belt and pinion broke. Fixed again. The heli is flying better due to the correct tail pinion and the head speed not fluctuating any longer.

But there is vibration throughout the heli that I cannot figure out. The entire heli is shaking during flight. I'm not sure what else could be damaged.

Can anyone please give me some suggestions what else to inspect.

Thanks guys!

Check your main shaft and your tail shaft. Especially the tail shaft. It is a skinny little thing, and if you broke the tail blades and slider, you put some impact on that shaft. I've bent the tail shaft without breaking the blades.

What rpm does it occur?
does it even out at any rpm? you could try setting the pitch to zero at all ranges of throttle in the Tx and doing a video of it. I'd stand behind something solid while doing this!
Another thing to do for a video is zip-ty one end of brightly colored Rx antenna tubes to fore/aft locations, both horizontal and vertical to see how much they vibrate and at what rpm.
The wash from the rotors will blow them around so maybe mounting them perpendicular to the rotor wash is a better idea.
trying to define what's happening from them is not easy, but when they stop vibrating you know you found your problem!
Aside from that it is all back to basics.
Is everything straight in the rotating shafts and head? Blades balanced?
Are all attachments tightened down as they should be?

It might be worthwhile to replace the tail shaft or at least inspect it real good as suggested.

Guys thanks. I will replace the tail shaft and probably bearing as well to be on the safe side.

The max HS is at 1400. There is no vibration on the ground. Only when it's up in the air. Weird.

I did try the 0 pitch. I normally do this to set the HS. Thanks to Fergus for that.

The main shaft is ok. I did the "roll" test.

Blades are NHP800. They're perfectly balanced. Tracking great.

Everything tightened down.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll order tonight.

I presume you replaced the boom too?

Is it a fast vib or a slow head speed type vibration?

Looking for a tail boom. FXAero is out of stock. I can't order from Joker-USA as they do not ship Maxis to Canada. Minicopter Canada said they're getting in a new shipment next week. So I'm crossing my fingers for that.

I'm not experienced enough to differentiate from a fast vib or a slow head speed vib. The entire heli vibrates but flies.

Anyway it looks like more down time again. I'll have to replace each part until I find the source.

I'm not having much luck with the Maxis. Since the first MJ2 back in September 07 I still have less than an hour of flying time. Incredible.
