You can buy the conversion direct from MA, I think its around $350 (not sure though).

Its quite big change, its has belt drive, battery upfront.

You can download the manual for it from MA's site (www.miniatureaircraftusa.com) so you can see whats involved.

I don't think 350$ is worth upgrading. The plain ion-x is fine to me.

Depends, if you are going to run 12s its pretty much a must.
Largest benefit is that you can choose from a larger selection of motors due to pretty open gear-ratio.
