since my topic got closed by RR and I'm assuming POOPOO's picture did it(thanks again poopoo).....I wanted to respond to some of the posts that were made while I was at work

some of you guys are missing my point ENTIRELY.......it was not aimed at experienced pilots needing more performance,it was not aimed at someone who likes bling/or just wants a nice heli(if you read original thread it states this).......but it was aimed at some of the newer guys who seemed to think there was a magic part they were going to bolt to the heli.....and it would then magically rise to a nice soft stable hover and sit there......thats all

when we were trying to hover our BLADE CP....we added two sets of flybar weights...trying to SLOW THE HELI DOWN...and guess what?????it worked....as soon as I put a second set of flybar weights on my CP I hovered for the first time, that day......so if newbies are struggling with their first hovers and adding metal head(more responsive, quicker cyclic)...faster tail...(same thing)...faster servos(we added weight to SLOW cyclic/or expo to tame then at center))....and CF blades...more headspeed less drag(quicker heli).......yes all of these upgrades are GREAT........but they can make getting your first hovers HARDER.....and that is fact not opinion,as all of them add speed of some type to the heli

p.s....MARK told me to feel free to restart the thread..but keep it clean guys

Keeping things simple is the way to go for me.

I am still flying the plastic head and tail after a zillion flights of regular sport flying and mild 3D thrown in.

Bling is great but its not really going to help you all that much. If you feel the need to Bling at least start with the one piece that matters which is the swash.

After that you may want to switch to carbon blades to reduce the drag issues but when your just starting to hover your not going to benefit from the better blades.

Hope this has helped just a tad.

There are a few of us here that have been flying the King from the beginning like Fender, Tryan, Slider, Shizack, Dougs and myself, hope didnt leave anyone out.

Dont be bashful ask questions and we'll be happy to help.

All Hail the King...

Ricks, Sometimes it takes more than three words ( Ricks is the Greatest:cool Leave it too Picapacapopo AKA hbk2flyer to turn things SOUR ! He is very good at that. I still can't understand how Picapacapopo can be banned and the Same person can come back under a new name and continue to irritate and act like TROLL.(enough about him(it)) I'm glad you restarted the thread Fender, it was a Great topic IMO. It would have been some great debates until the "troll" showed up.
Any debates or honest disscussions where things can be learned and different perspectives can be shared has GOT to a good thing. I got the point of your original thread right away -- Get to the Gettin---stick time---NO short cuts---No magic bullets or parts---I myself am 100 percent guilty of Bashing the livin Hell out of a heli instead of looking at myself and really asking "self"is this thing really a P.O.S or is it not set-up right or could it possibly be the pilot
We are all at different skills levels and some are more cautious than others in the learning process but to me Every single step or milestone in your heli-journey is exciting and Should be FUN. I always try to give props to anyone now matter where they are in the journey, if someone flies better than me I say WOW ! I hope to be as good as you some day. If someone just learned to hover for the first time, I say" Awesome" What a feeling AHH !! I even gave props to Pica when he posted some flying with the Belt-CP(some heli-skills are there but no people skills) The botherhood is part of what makes the Hobby(or obsession) Great !
I could go on and on but I won't My paragraghs suck, I type it out with the first word in a couple of spaces and then when it gets posted everything slides to the left, I'm going to blame the keyboard (I'm almost as bad as DAR)( Just Kidding aroud DAR)

Slider told me it was all in the pitch gauge. As long as I bought the Align, all I had to do was wave it in the air over the heli/radio and everything would be dialed in

I must be doing something wrong.

I'm glad to see theis post back up Fender... I have to agree with Fender and Dougie Boy on this one... I got away from the cp forum because if you weren't upgrading to a $1000 cp you didn't know what you were talking about... I tried everything with that cpp, all the way to total BL and back again, and the best setup I found was a stock heli with the GWS DD tail on it end of story, simple and cheap.... I spent the money I saved in upgrade into a 450 heli...
I noticed since posting here alot that the bling bug has bitten many of the guys.. It's really not needed especially if your learning to fly or sport fly... Stay with the KISS method and you will have plenty of money for a few extra helis rather than a pile of parts.... If your learning taming the heli down like Doug posted is the best method to help get better control and reaction timing till your ready to fly around... Great post guys....

Tom..... No "D" flying....

I was at one of my local padawans' place helping him get his BeltCP set up today. Some of the linkage pivots were at odd angles; the Bell arms and paddles were set wrong; CG was off; a few other things.

We installed the Xtreme turnbuckles (nice, especially if you ream out the ball links with a Dremel drill bit), I showed him how to set the link pivots and swash, and proceeded to set up pitch range and blade pitch.

After getting the pivots right and the swash leveled, it took maybe 20 minutes to get the range and pitch set up, and that thing was hovering nicely in the living room - for a few seconds anyway. It is a 400+ size heli...

No bling; bone stock except for the turnbuckles. Oh, and he had an Align pitch gauge. I'm sure that's why setting up the pitch came so easy.

Man, that's a nice stable heli.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

Bottom line is you can't buy skills ( ask me how I know) I've often thought I'd like to see someone fly my heli Who does have skills. For my part all the upgrades I did was for looks as much as performance. I probably should push my flying skills more so I would crash more because I do enjoy the mechanical end of the hobby but when she's sooo pretty ya just don't want to drill her kind of a catch 22 I made for myself but the flying I am capable of I do enjoy to the max

Gary

PS the ignore button is a wonderful thing havn't used it here yet but on other groups it cuts some of the tension. Some folks just scare me
