Camp Senior Heliman Location: Back in PA, hopefully soon VT
| I had a V3 and they are challenging enough to be entertaining when you are first learning. Good bird overall and great for learning orientation. I miss mine, lost it at twilight and it rained overnight so the 4in1 was destroyed.
I've had a TREX 450 but had to sell it in the divorce and still have a Venom 3DXL but the electronics are so bad it never flew.
I'm looking at a HBK2 at the moment.
But, yes, for fun factor the Lama is great. I imagine it's got alot of people started into the hobby. I highly recommend getting the extreme blades from the get go. They survive most anything, and if he gets to the point of flying outdoors the metal heads with the links on the outermost points of the arms can handle winds just fine.
There is an upgrade motor package available (there are 2 motors BTW) but it's not brushless. I ran both and noticed no difference. I got about 9 minutes to a pack. In the learning curve 1 to 2 packs will have your hands shaking anyway. |
