e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Vibration in the head: Now the tail is going nuts... =( I Just added a video on last page.

Hi! I've been hovering nicely and stable and i just finished hovering the 5th pack. In the last pack i noticed some strange vibration. That was when i landed and turn off the throtle and when the blades slowed down the heli starts vibration and tends to go to the left because of that vibration. I'm using carbon main blades, i checked them in the blade balancer and seem to be very well balanced, every part like, spindle, main shaft, flybar, gears were replaced from my first crash, but since that one i didn't have any crash or hard landings. I look at the blade rotation and them seem to be tracking correctly maybe it's beter to put some blade tracking on it? this vibration is not a big deal because it only appears in low head speed or when i'm in the air for a milisecond there is a vibration.
The flybar padles are exactly at the same distance so i think it could not be problem either.

Does somebody has the same problem?

I can try to record some video of this vibration.

Thank you

Something thats real easy to miss is the axle shaft (goes through the grips). If its slightly bent it will cause the head to vibrate. Did you replace that one?

From experience I"ve had to replace the 'feathering shaft' between the blade grips... it bends everytime my blades hit something...

Not that I hit stuff with my blades...

Sgt heli, is that the main shaft?

EDIT: ok, is that small piece of metal that lets the main shaft goes through?

I've replaced it, it's the "spindle/feathering shaft"

Vibration at low head speed is normal. If it clears at take off speeds, its not really a problem.

After a crash, I would double check your tracking at different pitch and throttle levels.

That's the feathering shaft, aka spindle.

EK1-0344 axle shaft. Threaded on both ends. bolts in the grips.

When I think of feathering shaft, I think of the four smaller shafts that connect the three servos for the cyclic. Whats the name of those?

well i changed all of that parts, i will run some more tests, re-check blade balancing and blade tracking... maybe the plastic head and the plastic body can cause some unstable vibration too?

By the way, what kind of tape tracking should i use? i use a random tape bought in normal shops.

Do you mean the ball linkage?

What the HECK!?!

well i checked now again the pitch angle of each main blade, now i have one blade with 0 angle pitch and the other with -2 angle pitch!!!!! this should not happen, i didn't even crash why whould the blades become outbalanced in the pitch angles!?

well the pitch are set correctly now but there is still some vibration... =S

NOW i have HUGE PROBLEM!!! i didn't change any gyro settings and the head lock gyro is moving my tail insanely violent to the right i almost lost control of it because of that, i don't know what's going on, this doesnt used to happen before! =( what should i do about the gyro?

The gyro will be affected by the vibration. A tracking issue will cause a vibration. Fix that first, then see if you have further gyro issues. Checking the blade pitch is good, but you will also need to check tracking while the head is moving. Then fine tune the tracking to get as close to perfect as possible. Be sure to check tracking with positive and negative pitch.

If you can't fix the tracking then you might have some sloppy parts in the head. After one crash thats what happened to mine. It was never the same after the crash. First a vibration started, then the gyro went crazy. It wasn't fixed until the "loose" parts that were stretched in the crash were replaced. Full details in my tracking thread. Enjoy.

i'm afraid that could be the feathering shaft. take a look at this video, i just recorded it now.

the best part to see the cyclic vibration that only happens sometimes is starting at second 40 in this video. there is no light so i had to make the heli closer to the came. what do you think? maybe the feathering shaft?

if you look closely it will go violently to the right

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsUq1576By4

by the way, the main blades are tracking correctly

Didn't you already replace the feathering shaft?

yes i did change when i crashed 5 days ago, but this feathering shaft could be bent in some hard landing or something? it goes violently to the right from time to time i don't know what could it be... i will take a look at the feathering shaft right now

That acts like you have a tooth missing on one of your servos. Check them all very closely... Put a little pressure on the arm and move it up and down... Check each one like that....

slider it goes to the right but it isnt me that gives the input, the heli is doing that thing itself with the stick centered, do you think it still could be the servo?

could it be a glitch in the radio system?

I wish I was good at this

Only you can make the call of what is wrong with your heli as your there to actually see and do the repairs.. I along with everyone else here can only give you our best guess ideas of what to check.. You need to go thru your heli again and find the problem before you fly it again...

servos are working great, feathering shaft doesnt seem to be bent. this only started happening today by the second flight... i will replace the feathering shaft just in case

thanks for your opinions, i will take a better look at it today and tomorrow

Servo

Check the servos. Mine did that after a boom strike.(hard landing) I had a broken tooth on the aileron servo.
Brad

We need video proof around here.
