Thanks Inky for starting this thread.

I have the vbar with 8717's on swash 9256 on the tail. I am using the TB head. (pics are in the gallery)

I have the sensor mounted up front.

No flying today. It is way to windy. DARN!!

I hope this might bring some guys from over the pond in on this to better help us out here in the states.

Thanks,
cJ

I would really like to try this setup, but us common folk aren't on the prototype / pre-production pilot list.

If and when the rest of us can get our grubs on this equipment I'll do some experimenting and let ya'll know!

On second thought, it might be more cost effective to let you guys do some field testing for us less connected souls.

After great success with my T-rex I'm helping/designing a set up my mates Synergy with the V-Bar. It will be using the Hyper grips with custom made Ali arms from one piece to give 33 mm between centre hub and arms. Swash driver is the 12mm Vario unit. Other than that the head will be stock but using Hyperings and firm shims.

Prob go with the basic setup in the V-bar and work it from there. Standard settings seem to work very well.

More details and pics if possible when near completion, he's just waiting for the unit to arrive.

Thanks Inky and CJ for the hook up, flybarless head on the way!

Now for the Vbar, shushhhh don't tell my wife how much this is going to cost!!!!

Good thing I have a pair of Synergys, I'll be able to compare the differences back to back. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

link

For those of you who have not experienced the vstabi software, here is a good link to get you started in the right direction. Start from the top and work your way down. A helpful thing to do is down load the software so that you can go and reference it first hand.

This seems to shed much needed light on there manual that is included with the vbar system.

May have all the necessary hardware delivered by Friday! Looks like a flybarless conversion weekend.

CJ, great link for Vbar info. I feel smarter already, kinda like staying at a Holiday Inn Express!

Rod lengths

Fellow flybarless Synergy freeks with the TB head....

I just got my trex600n going and I find it kind of funny. I put them (synergy/600n) side by side and My Synergy sits around a 1/4 inch higher than my 50. I wonder how this will help performance, CG wise.

BP, my rod length (swash up to pitch arm) with ball links installed is 73mm. This is measured from tip to tip (on the outside of the links) on the ball links. The three links coming down from the swash plate measure 57mm. Keep in mind These don’t have to be exact but I tried to keep my stab arms at 90 degrees with zero pitch as best as possible. This should be symmetrical.

Do you think the turnbuckles will be strong enough?

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Plenty strong.. Or at least so far they are.

On a serious side they seem to be fine. Keep in mind they are shorter than the stock links. In fact I think they might be a little over kill. IMHO

Just as an update, I have my Vbar profile refined pretty well now. The cyclics are very fast, it wil rotate around either axis much tighter than with the flybar head. It's insane!

A few threads have mentioned a strange hover feel, I didn't find any real difference there at all. The landing at the end of an auto is really funky, the heli wants to buck back a little on the cyclics if lots of negative pitch isn't fed in right after touch down. It kind of caught me off guard a couple of times!

Thats the behavouir of the extended Mode I think. First, try a online update in the Vbar Software to get the new Firmware. Here 2K4 init. an hover behavouir are improved. When this does not held, make another Bank for hover and ar where you use the classic mode, this should help.
