ok, it only took about five hours of flying over two months, about 150 in spare parts(mostly from me being over eager), a new gyro and tail servo! But I had it over at my dad today, laid out a 4'x4' piece of plywood and was able to hover over the board for 30sec to a couple minutes at a time!!!!! As usual, i can see where some more tweaking needs to be done, but now i am so stoked. I used up everypack i had, a 2200mah, two 1320's and a 1000. Perfect day, slight wind, about 50degrees. I LOVE MY HELI!!!!!!! (today at least, he he he)

Did your heli seem more stable and easier to fly with the bigger batts? Mine sure does.

Yeah, my next mod is to extend the battery tray and also to move the pin holder to the front of the main shaft so i can put the canopy on over the extended tray.

Right now, when i use the 2200 bat, i put it all the way in and the cg is perfect. And when i use the 1320s i use velcro at the back of the battery and at the very front of the batt tray. Its not the most stable that way, but right now i am only hovering.

Thanks fender, it was getting frustrating, but you guys kept me going. Like all of you have said, its a steep learning curve at first, but i will just keep plugging at it.

Nice JOb!!!!!!!!

Still working on it with quite a ways to go. I am still in the "mid throttle-watch it do what it shouldn't-try to correct" stage. But at leat now I realize why...

Need to purchase new Gyro, Tail Servo, and what the heck, a new 2200 mAh batt.

Anyway, congrats!

WOWWW, good work man...Trust me I know the stoked feeling...Wait till you can walk next to the heli and have it flying backwards next to you then flip it around and chase a car for 25 feet and then bring it back....Its like my lil pet sidekick...I just put on some jams, and fly around my apt complex jamming out to music while everybody watches and stares LOL.

Great work man keep it up!

Nice going 3B. Every new milestone on Heli-highway is pretty exciting. Getting to the point where you can hover the thing in a small area and actually feel like YOU are controlling it instead of IT controlling you is a GREAT FEELING. That is probably one of the reasons this hobby is so addictive, you almost NEVER run out of challenges. Its like man vs. machine and the machine is saying---You can't FLY ME-- and you say---Oh yes I CAN

Will you be doing the heli-smackdown at e-Fest this year?

Glad to hear your doin it! Ive seen a ton of guys come and go here on RR and I am sure Ill see more. You guys know who you are you get frustrated with spending money and getting nowhere. If it was easy wed all be flying like doug and fender.

I had my first stable hover at work today with the lama V4 a 5min hover at that. I got it a foot off the ground and set the radio on the floor and went and sat down and watched it for 5 min. Those things really do fly themselves. Makes for a fun toy I can fly nose in and land in my hand. gotta think of a new trick with it now. But everybody should have a lama for work.

BBB I knew you could do it.. It's such a good feeling to clear that first hurdle of hovering.... Now you have about 3000 more hurdles to clear so get back to practicing....
Great job...

Ok, appearantly one of my little crashes yesterday(yes while being stupid and showing my dad about idleup) I cracked another frame right behind the motor!! I went to fly it in my shop and thats when i noticed the crack. SOOOOO, I went ahead and put the 3900 motor on the upgraded heli and i was able to get it in a nice little hover also!! I have to trim some things out still because i just did get everything together on it, but i will post some video tonight.

If the wind dies down it will be some flying by streetlight, otherwise it will be some basement shots.

But mostly i will post some video just to chastise slider since he is having such a hard time with youtube, he he he.

Ok, just to quantify, I was going to have some video of the heli I have been learning on, but while at the shop i found a crack in the frame just behind the motor mount. So i have an upgraded heli that i have been slowly put together, well, I put the 3900 motor on it and gave it a whirl. I got it in the air, but it still needs some work.

BUT i promised video and so here it is...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovX68VW7-mk

Like I said, i dont have the time in on the setup on this one yet, that is why i dont have it all dressed and cleaned up.

Yet another order into Jags. But at least i am getting in the air and getting some stable(somewhat) hovering.
