I'm about to buy G2 but i've just read about the usb interface controller. Should I wait for this to be made available in the uk(when??) or should i just buy the version with the dummy controller??? Will there be much difference in price???

I don't want to spend close to £200 and find there's a better version around the corner

USB Interface?

I would wait, the pics that are posted on their web site look like the cable has both connecters.-------------BladeRunner.
Smart move if it IS a universal cable, instead of several cables they will only need to stock and sell one; but I doubt we will see the savings!

G-2?

They are on the Realflight web page, there is a link posted in another thread here somewhere,-----unless that is just another hallucination of mine! -------------BladeRunner.

You must have been thinking about this link Blade Runner.
http://www.towerhobbies.com/product...t/gpmz4203.html

Although I can't find any mention of this new usb controller/interface on RealFlights website. You would figure if it due in March they would have something about it mentioned. Guess the people that update their webpage are asleep at the wheel again.

I called GP today about this and the guy said he was playing with one while we were on the phone. It isn't going to be available for more than a month they are saying. It allows you to use your TX through the new dummy TX. The new dummy has a knob and a 3 position switch as well. Some kind of exchange program or upgrade will be offered is the official word from them, but no other details yet.

An exchange program would be cool depending on how much credit they will give you for your original interface or dummy box. Plus the time you will be without the use of the interface while you wait for the replacement. Hmmm. Maybe if they don't charge too much just for the new USB interface would be better to buy it.

I spoke to someone in tech services at ripmax today in the UK. He told me that there is no confirmed date for when the usb interface version is going to be released. JUst thought I'd let you all know.

Well my version of G2 has just arrived so I'm off to fly - if only I could get rid of this white screen I seem to be stuck with. Any ideas??

Allrighty then

This is probably the best move they have made in regards to the Real Flight Program.

I have always wanted to have both the controler and interface. Never wanted to have to own 2 copies of the program. This will statisfy that need nicly, as long as they allow me to exchange my present interface cable.

LOL

That's a good one BladeRunner.

I sent Great Planes an email last night asking about the new Interlink interface and a few other questions regarding price of the
interface alone without the software. We'll see what they say.
I also asked if the 2 new aircraft that come with the updated G2 will be available for all current G2 owners to download. Will post their response when I get it.

usb upgrade

sorry, I can't remember, but I read a thread being answered today by the program manager of Great Planes RFG2 and SHE said that they were putting out the usb cable for anyone with existing RealFlight to purchase. If I find it again I will post it. But I am sure it was legit.

aftermarket USB upgrade

I purchased an adapter from Radio Shack part # 26-164 Game port to USB $16.99.I am using the dummy box and must say this works slick, there is no software needed.Seems to be a more precise feel of gimbals and when you calibrate the flickering is no longer apparent. There is a 4 position swich on the adapter and have found it works in #2(joystick A) and #4(wheel).Best regards,Jason Kalbfleisch
