So... where you flying under wet conditions?

I've been using the Align regulators (first the 3A now 6A) for a while and so far so good. Over 200 flights combined. I use hot glue to seal them off...

Do you think the load could have been over 6A?

Well it was damp but not wet, I’ve also used both 3A & 6A before and they’ve been fine.

No way, I was using 3x 9252s 1x 9450 1x 601 with servo,this setup was fine on my Raptor 90 conversion for 12 months with 3A regulator.

I’ have a Align 2in1 that I could use but I’m a bit reluctant to fit it so I think I’ll fit the Duralight and play safe.

I’ve robbed the skids and drive gears from my 600n and the blades off my R 90 and I’m just waiting for the sun to come out

Maybe there is a bad servo or something which is driving the current up.

I had a bad experience with a Duralite when one of the battery wires broke off from the pc board in flight. There was nothing holding the wires down mechanically. The heli was toasted.

I changed the regulator yesterday and all has been well for 5 tanks today.

Today's update.

I did have a slight problem that took me longer than it should to work out but my brain got there in the end

I was keeping my eye on the plug after each flight and even though the low needle was nearly 2 turns out and the engine was becoming hard to start the plug still looked lean and the engine smelled hot, I also tried a gentle climb out and that was numb to say the least at this point I realised the problem had to be the insulator block and sure enough when I checked, it had worked loose.

After sorting the insulator the heli just got better and better throughout the day, I ran 5 tanks off with 680 blades on this time, it was running a head speed off 1600 and sounding very happy, and now it had plenty of power when I tried a gentle climb out
I averaged 19mins per tank and the highest temp reading was 64C taken when the engine was still on the lean side.

Ignition Battery
I have always been a bit worried about the 2200 NiMH ignition battery so after the first flight I put it on charge and it took 278m/amp and after that charge I just flew for the afternoon and it was fine.

The 600g was so smooth at 1600 head speed that most of today’s flying was hands off it was that good I can tell it's already loosened up and I’m sure this engine will be good for 1700 or 1800 or even more with the present gearing.

I can’t wait to run a few more tanks tomorrow and the next day and hopefully by next weekend I will have some video footage.

Are you going to the Hurlock, MD funfly on May 17th or the MHA FF on May 7th in Maryland?

Just wondering if you're going to be around to show off the trex 600g!

Fixit some video??

I’m trying to run two gallon before I start doing that and I still have a gallon to go
Two gallon doesn’t sound much until you fly a tank and then wait for it to cool down before you fly again, you then realise just how long it’s going to take great fun though.

Cooling problems

No sir the engine is running at low temperatures, the cool down period after a flight is a must and valid part of the run-in process for a gasser engine.

Quote
And the head speed? Still 22 T pinion

Sill running 20T, 1600 head speed.

Look the sweetch/receiver holder
Buy TraXXXas temperature meter and test the tempereature by posting the temperature resistor behind first rib. Lets compare the temp there at same place.

Have fun nice day
