Yeah, the canopy does hide that big motor huh?

I have about 0 degrees with wind chill here as well, and I am waiting for a chance to test my latest heli, it's tough when you really want to try it, but the wind is 20mph also, so.....

hi
yes , the frame is about 15mm taller and about 20mm longer , so the stock canopy fits pretty well , i just weighed it all up and it looks like it will just sqweek in at 9lbs 14oz , i will post more photos . once i get some sun here , and i am like you , there is no way i am going to try to maiden in 20 MPH winds , dana

LOL... It is unfortunate you spent time putting those stickers on. They won't last two tanks. Or maybe on a gasser they will hold for three...

I used 3M 90 adhesive to hold mine in place. 9 nitro tanks through and holding. But there are several threads describing how crappy they are...

We need to see action!

Tomorrow onward seems less colder/windy but you may have to deal with snow and rain instead. Anyway, what is your gear ratio on the Trex 600G

I got the kick out of that letter 'G'

On another note: do you think the rubber that seals the tank fittings is gasoline proof? Keep an eye open for premature melting...

Stickers and gassers go well together

They will last longer than the canopy probably as gassers don't spit disgusting drooling oil all over the mechanics. It's looking like a really sweet machine -- if I had to comment I'd say I wished the canopy covered more of the mechanics in the back, other than that looking sweet!

Don't fly it anywhere but heavy grass (no pavement or dirt/scarce grass) and you're running filterless and sand in your engine is a bad bad thing. For now off snow its no sweat.

Heck, drive it down here to Franklin and I'll fly it for you!

Also, how big is that gas tank? Its designed for a thirsty nitro motor to provide around 10 minutes of flight time. If its as large as I think it is, and with the 20 size engine, this thing will probably fly close to 45 minutes to an hour on it. You may want to downsize the gas tank to shed some weight. A 10oz tank is probably more than enough.

I think 45 minutes flying per tank is one of the things that attracts people to gassers, I wouldn’t change it unless it was for a bigger one

Dana, from were I’m sitting I can't fault it I hope it fly’s as well as it looks.
Good luck with the first flight.

You guys SAY that but...

Who here has flown a gasser for 45 minutes straight? Anyone? Comon, let's have a show of hands! I've done it and let me tell you it is the most agonizing thing when you have to do it and you've been waiting fo the gas to run out since about 20 minutes into the flight.

While it may sound appealing, its more practical to keep it lighter, have a GOOD 15 minute flight, and then land to refuel and relax a bit -- let someone else fly. Helis are demanding on the pilots to make them fly and fly well, after 15 to 20 minutes your tired and if you're still flying you're just going around in circles waiting for the gas to run down.

A generator on the other hand is priceless, because it gives you the freedom to refuel and fly all day long. Definately find a place to mount it and replace the weight of excess fuel with a generator, much more worth it!

Hey, some of us only fly in circles anyway

Your right 15 to 20 minuets is long enough but it’s nice to just nip out at short notice with just the Gasser and get a few flights in without having to take anything else with you.

hi guys
my main interest is to see the engine in this chassis , and put some time on it , i am sure a whole nest of wiener dogs could shake out , once it gets some time on it , and possibly in areas none of us have even had a chance to worry about yet

one thing Raja will find interesting is the stock 600 tank is 440cc and a stock Predator tank is 650cc , so the 600 tank is roughly 2/3 the size of a Predator tank , that actually sounds like a good size to me , i don't know what kind of flightime to expect , but i am looking forward to finding out

thanks again for all the interest and support , dana

Is a little big

I would estimate you'll get 45 minutes from this tank. But it fits nicely in the frames and not sude if anything else smaller will fit as nice, so try this one and see.

Just as a side note, if it was me down the road I'd put in a 250cc tank in this. I try to tank size my helis so I can get a good 15 minutes of hard 3D and land with about 1/4 tank reserve. (20 minutes to dead stick)

hi Raja
thanks , after i shake this machine down , if i am still happy with the performance and durability , i will redraw the frames and lay them out any changes that should come up , and for a smaller tank as you suggest , i appreciate the input , you know my saying " spread the guilt " , thanks again , dana

Yes no problem Dana!

Keep up the good work and Definately test it first with this tank to confirm my theory about duration and then you can adjust it later with the next run of the frames. If you find you only need 8oz of fuel versus 15 oz, with a smaller tank you will save almost 1/2 pound off the heli (I know fuel is not 1:1 weight wise but close enough ballpark figure!).

Anyways my estimates came from how long the original G23 used to run on 10oz of fuel, and this being a new G20 and not knowing what its consumption rate is without trial and error, I guesstimated it to run at the same efficiency as the old G23.

I like the big tank plan , you don't have to fill it up if you don't want to .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .
