Can anyone explain the difference between a regulated power supply, and a so called switching power supply? I recently ordered a Pyramid 12A power supply, advertised as a regulated model. It lists for about 40 bucks. Then I remembered something about "switching" and that it was a good thing. Now I'm uncertain as to the quality of the regulation of the Pyrimid. Thanks!

DMShanks,

This question was actually asked recently and received many good replies, if you go search you'll probably find it.

Anyway, either a "regulated" or "switching" 12v power supply will be fine to power a battery charger.
