Hi guys

I know this has been thrashed out many times. I have 'done a search'.

The problem is servos have moved on....esp small servos.

I swopped the machine for a TT Mini Titan, so didn't have a choice on the equipment.

I have 3 x JR 341. They are slow and week....and crap.

What servos would fit, without mods, that would be better than the JR341's. I want digital with bearings, faster and more power.

From my search, the Futaba 3155/3150 are about the only Futabas that fit. The 3150 is good torque but slow, the 3155 is fast but low torque. The 3150 has a coreless motor and the 3155 says nothing...any info? Which would be better? are there any others to choose from ?

JR 362's are recommended, they are 3,8kg/0,24 sec good power, but slow. Is there anything faster?

Hitec do they have any suitable digital servos ?

Airtronics, 94761 it this the only choice? is it good? seems fast and powerful. Sounds perfect. 3 pole motor is this ok?

Any info please.

Regards
Paul

The airtronics servos work great. .12 speed and .60 oz. in torque...very much up to the task. They do a pretty nice job of centering...as micros go, and are fast...as micros go. Sound way better than the jr's you were using. A lot of leptons I've seen around here and at events are using these. I'm not sure if there are newer/faster servos, but I'll watch this thread to see who else puts ideas out there. Tom

I'm\I've installed the 94761Z on mine. However, the digital version of the Hitec HS-81 is coming out, HS-5082MG

I'm using the HiTec 85MG's in my Lepton. They work great!! I run HiTec Servos in all of my Heli's, I've never had any issues with them

servo choice

Hi Paul,
Im contemplating the same servo choices for my Lepton project. I have heard of some guys using Futaba digital 9650s (coreless) which does require some frame mods but apparently worth the effort. The 9650 specs are:

SPEED .11 sec/60 degrees @ 6V and .14 sec/60 degrees @ 4.8V

TORQUE 4.5 kg-cm @ 6.0V and 3.6 kg-cm @ 4.8V

SIZE 35.5 x 15 x 28.6 (L x W x H)

You can see them installed here

Hi Pre-Mix

I am starting to see why guys do bother with the frame mods.....

The 9650's are a good servo but why would you want to weaken the carbon frame. The Airtronics specs are a little better overall and fit perfectly. Either are a top of the line servo for the Lepton so enjoy.

Three 9650's equals carrying more than one extra S3155 or 94761Z

Weight is one of the most important factors with small electrics

Yes, the airtronics seem better overall with lighter weight and more torque, giving up .01 sec in transit speed. If it was buying you a transit time of .07 or better...then I'd think about it, but I don't see the advantage as the 9650's are spec'd. Tom

airtronics vs. futaba

I must admit I neglected to consider the weight differences. Only issue I have is that airtronics servos are hard to come by in these here parts. Reckon I could always have them mailed from the US.

But doesnt the material you have to remove to fit the 9650s negate the added weight???

I may just consider going with the Futaba 3150s as they are available locally and my flying style is F3C so speed is not really as crucial to me as it is for the incredible 3D pilots out there.

Anyone have any objection to the 3150s considering my flying style?

regards, Johan
