The subject of Head Dampening or Main Rotor Dampening has come up recently. Some of which is caused by us newbies ( including myself ) having a slight wobble due to low head speed. But, one other suggestion has been to decrease the tightness of the dampening. This other suggestion has sparked my interest. First of all, what type of maintnance, if any, should be performed on these o-rings? Will oiling them have any effect on how they perform? What advantages/disadvantages could come from this?

Any info would be appreciated

You know, KY jelly is just NOT one of those things
normally kept in the helicopter work area.

Her: Honey, can I borrow a screwdriver?
Him: Sure Hon, in the workshop on the table next to the KY Jelly.
Her: WTF?????????????????

PS. Try 'Astroglide'. Vastly (!!!!!!!!!!) superior. I'll stake my reputation on it.

Wow, I'll have to try that Seriously, does KY really work? I have some of this Tri-Flow with teflon that I was going to use...

most any non-petroleum lube will work.

Most of the 'personal' lubricants are some
variation of glycerin and safe for rubber or
latex.

But you already knew that.

No. No Tri-Flo. First ingredient is petroleum distillates.

So is this sort of thing done on a regular basis or just during assembly? Is it possible for the head to become too loose? If so, what are the warning signs/drawbacks?

Sorry I have so many questions, it is just something that I havn't really thought about until now.

Thanks,
Mark

I am using teflon trailer ball grease and it stays loose for a long time without maintenance.

silicone grease

when i got into scuba diving there are several items with rubber o-rings such as flash lights and under water cameras. the o-rings on these things are always treated with silicone grease. thats what i use on all o-rings what ever they are used for.
