Update:

My friend sent two servos back under warranty. Got two new ones and these don't glitch.

Btw, before he sent them, we did a test at the field (kinda stupid though) where we spooled up the bird on the ground without blades attached. A revmax was used to keep the engine rpm under control and let me tell you... those pitch/ail servos were moving like 15 degrees to each side at a high pace on their own?!? Looked like parkisons

Latest update.

I had a couple MSA-10 synchronizers lying around. Because these have a separate power input I decided to see if the receiver was having a problem with the amount of current it could handle. When I plugged the battery into channel 7 everything worked fine, I guess a shorter bus for the power to run on. When I ran power to the synchronizer the glitching went away. I think the R127DF has a problem with higher currents on the bus. I replace a Hitec servo I used to trouble shoot with back to the BLS-451 I removed. All is well when I use the MSA-10. SO I have a new receiver on its way. Thanks all for your help.

Very interesting read here.... Now has anyone tried this on the spectrum recievers to see if they get the same results?

I was thinking of building a new bird with these servos but not if they have this issue also.

I'll be running all BLS on the 2.4 R6014FS receiver on my Stratus. If I have a problem I'll let you know.

Actually I have a FUT 309DPS that I may have to use in the interim since it's taking Futaba forever to cough up the next batch of 2.4 stuff.

Hey I was looking at your gallery and I am a little disapointed that I did not see a window open with Runryder on your CAD picture???

I've been using BLS351 with my X9303 radio with no problem. The servo is really powerful and fast. It is not power-hungry also

Chalk another wreck upto the BLS servo's. This time we had the Trex 600n on a data recorder. Got a spike in voltage and the servo's just locked out. Luck only 6 feet off the ground but cost of blades and boom. 6 flights flawless yesterday 2 flights today started twitching on first flight landed and checked everything was tight so on a short hover they stopped working. Battery checks fine still 7.2 v on an Align 2 in 1 (with glow driver) Hopefully Futaba will honor the servo's they are dead now.
Not a voltage spike an amperage spike, Edited

It really wasn't a voltage spike it was an amperage spike. If I can figure out a way to post the graph I will.

A friend at the club had one go full travel causing the heli to roll. It still does it every time you power it on and I suspect it has a faulty pot. Perhaps brushless motors are more reliable but the pots always fail first and in this case certainly prematurely. The glitching that some people reported could also be accounted to a faulty pot.

BLS451 Glitching

Whirlybird,

The BLS451 is designed by Futaba for use in Nitro or Electric cars, they are not precise enough for the demands of heli flight.

The only brushless servo we offer at the moment for heli use is the BLS251.

What does "not precise enough" mean technically?

I'm not going to comment this but hey, she's right... they were made for car use, not helis so if they happen to fail on a heli, its your problem

Well we checked everything out. Looks like the 2 in 1 was dropping voltage down too low. The servo's all work fine. Don't know maybe they need a specific voltage to operate.

Krysta,

Not to start anything. You need to see you own web page then. Either you need to correct your web page or the above statement. The Futaba web page clearly states for AIR and Surface use. So please decide which is correct. I will be happy to send mine in to be replaced seeings how the Futaba web page lead me astray.

Edit:

Not to mention that the BLS251 is far too low on power for the applications most people here are running them on. There are alot of guys like myself that would bot use those on a 50 sized that is put through hard flying like 3D. Most of us are putting the 451's on 90's. This is can lead a lot of people to some very bad advice.
