Align T-REX 600N 700N > Anybody over 200 flights of 3D on their 600n?

Just wondering what durability factors play a role on the 600n. I hope to have my maiden this weekend.

Any slop or weakened parts at all?

Yup, The main thing to look at for is sloppy balls on the links. The tail ball usually goes after 50 flights.

keep the one way lubed with Tri-Flow

Keep a check on the main shaft bearings, I just replaced all of mine at 200 flights

Other than that, No issues at all..

Which part of the tail gives in? I have the sport version with the belt...

Don't have two hundred but I've had the ball on the tail control arm (on the tail case) wear out. The ball on the front bellcrank was also quite worn. Deffinatley not round anymore. My friend has around 170 flights on his and has replaced that ball twice now. Strongly suggest checking these as mine was loose enough without the guides it would have just fallen off the ball.

EDIT: here's a thread with a picture of what happens to the ball..

The ball link on the tail goes and all supporting linkage balls for the tail.

So just rock the plastic link back and fourth to see if there is slop?

i agree, the balls on this heli do wear out fast. had the throttle fall off, and the tail i just replaced last weekend. Other than that it is holding up really good. You can replace the align balls with raptor balls and they last longer but you have to resize the the links to fit.

Keep an eye on the 6v-5v Align step-down regulator if you use one for the tail servo. The supplied heat-srink does not isolate the vibration from the heli enough (even with it zip tied down). You may end up with one of the regulator cables snapping from vibration and hence you then have no tail (as I found out the hard way).

It pays to run some over sized heat-srink over the whole of the regulator cabling.

To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction

only had bout 50 flights on mine and the swash plate is totally screwed up can lift top section about 2mm from bottom section and has unbelievable slop and my heli hasn't had that hard a life.

Ordered a quick uk one now hope that fairs better.

My heli works as an ornament.......at least it stays in one piece!!!

Hey,
I have one from the origional release batch,
My swash is holding up okay, one ways been replaced long ago, replacments holding up well, tails developing lots of play with the ball links and the mechanics themselves are getting a little warn...
Tail thrust bearings swapped out for closed llooonnnngggg ago chasing tail wag...

Might have to give her a whole do over and change out the ball links and tail pitch mechinism...

To be honest, I would have to say that asside the swashes, these helis hold up pretty well

Yeah the wobble is gone just reset my ATG up an all went awway think it was too high throttle causing the vibe and to low head speed causing the wobble.

Mainshaft and Blade grip bearings are getting rough at 150+ change them out sooner rather than later, and get some aftermarket Jap quality bearings don't put the Align stuff back in.

My one way is still flawless, my ball links are still slop free. My swash was replaced at 150 but to be fair it had no more slop at 150 than it did at 10.
90 duro dampers where good but replaced after the crash.
Done one set of tail gears, i planted it tail first in the ground, circa 150 flights.

Apart from that it just goes on and on. Not bad for a load of Taiwanese Rubbish as some would say

I'm just glad it hasn't got the quality of certain other machines out there.

How exactly do you test for slop in the swash, grips, tail and other areas?

I'm still new to helis with about 50 flights on my JR Venture 50 and plan on buying a 600n soon and would like to know what to look for during maintenance.

That was me. Actually, I think I only would've had to change it once but the first time I just changed the ball and not the link. The link must have had dirt in bedded in it because the second ball wore out right away. After that I changed the ball and link and it's been fine. Other than that it's held up great. I changed the original swash out for the new light 3d one but it developed a tiny bid of slop right away where as the original swash never did have any play after probably 130 flights or so. I only changed it because the new one was available, Align must love me buying for the heck of it. So far all the bearings seem smooth as can be but I did use "the greaser". As time goes on I think the greaser really makes a difference.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
