Hi all,
I am wodering if any of the flyers here has any experience in the Swift Agusta build?
Does it come with the retract mechanism?
What motor/battery/ESC/pinion size combination will I need?
Thank you all in advance for your input.

I have had the Swift 16 since they first came out and love it.

I got the Augusta 109 fuselage for Christmas. The quality of the finish and wood mountings is top notch. I have not had the time to mount the mechanics yet, but hope to sometime before March. It really looks to be a piece of cake.

Yes,it does come with the retracts.

I will be powering it with the current power set up I have in the Swift except I will go one notch less on the pinion in order to drop the rotor speed and give longer flight times.

The system is the Century 600+ motor, the 9 or 10 tooth pinion, their 55 Amp ESC and 5 cell/3700 mah battery packs.
I believe there are a few threads about it in the scale forum here on RR and you can ask Fred Bonk in the "electric heli" forum on RCGroups.

I have flown two swifts on various setups. Good bird.

I called Century tonight and they are out of the A109 Coast Guard versions!@#.

Anyway, I'll be building one soon as they come in.

Does the carbon version fit ok into the Coast Guard 109? Still debating whether the carbon version is worth the extra $.

For scale flying, I don't think the carbon upgrade is necessary. Instead, I would spend the money on the thrust bearings and the four-blade rotor head if it's available.

4-blade for the Swift? Now that would be cool, but I have never flown more than two blades.

Sticking with the tried and true.

Just found the swift-tuning site. Good info there.

I have an Agusta fuse coming for my Swift as well.

I have been toying with the idea of going to a four-blade head, but I have not found a supply. Anyone have any recommendations?

I just got my A109 scale fuselage for my Swift. Does anyone here have a good technique in attaching the tail boom to the main mechanics inside the scale fuse?
Thanks

I don't think you can do this build with the stock tail assembly. The CNC Machined Tail Gearbox (CNE566) can be assembled through the tail while the mechanics and boom are installed.

Check out my Swift-Agusta build at http://www.scalerchelis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8908

Good luck with the project and let us know how you get along.

Finally done

I finally finished building the CG Stingray. Everything fit very well. I had to modify the wood work in the fuselage to better the strength. If you are going to build a Swift Coast Guard Stingray, you will have to fabricate the mounting platform with 1/8" plywood and use cable ties to secure the plywood to the prefabricated wooden frame work in the front and the rear. The stock wooden platform with four screw attachments is just too weak. Mine cracked after three flights. I have over 20 flights (7 min each) with the new setup and it has been problem free so far even with high g turns and quick stops. I'll post pictures of the mounting platform modification when I find some free time in next two days or so.
