e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > How many of you are still flying a 3DPro?

I haven't been flying too much recently, however I just gave my 3DPro a quick overhaul. When the weather clears, I'll probably start flying it again. I've never been too happy with the 3DPro and I've been thinking about selling it, but I don't think it's worth too much. I'm just wondering if there are many guys out there still flying this helicopter.

I hear you. I bought mine a few years ago when century had them for 175 with a futaba 401. I needed a 401 for my trex so this was $50 for the heli. I bought another second hand that had all the metal upgrades, carbon fiber blades, servo, receiver, gyro, belt tail upgrade and ESC for $130. So i have two airframes all the upgrades but I never got it to fly like I want it. I would probably get less than $100 if i tried to sell all of it. I see it sitting on my work bench with all that metal and carbon fiber and calling me, but ultimately i get frustrated by the thing and put it away again and pull out the trex450. Why put up with the frustration when the trex is so much easier on me.

I hate to say it, but just toss them. They're nearly impossible to sell now. They're even hard to give away (seriously).

I’m usually pretty good about following my gut instinct, but I really blew it with the 3Dpro. I’ve never been a big fan of Century. I feel that their customer service is sub par, that they are far too slow at fixing known deficiencies, and are too arrogant to listen to their customer’s input. I really wanted a CP helicopter with a driven tail that would be about the size of a HB. At the time that I bought it my choices were the Maxir, Hornet, or 3Dpro. The other two had limited parts support, so I reluctantly bought the 3Dpro. I bought the kit, so I saved some money there, but I ordered the belt drive right off the bat, $60. Then I started buying the purple bits in a desperate attempt to make this thing fl the way I wanted it to. If I remember correctly each “upgrade” was about $30-35. So the kit was about $100, belt drive $60, purple pieces $120, and the time trying to get it to fly well, priceless. When my helicopter was covered in purple, it reminded me of that evil dinosaur, Barney. That should have been a clue. I just feel that I wasted a bunch of money and, perhaps more importantly, time. Anywho, lesson learned. Stick with your gut instincts and don’t buy Century products.

I’ve still got a ton of parts, so I’ll probably fly it until the last spare is gone. At least then, I might feel that I got something out of it. Then, I’ll use it for target practice.

I had much the same experience as you.

I "Sold" two fully blinged 3D Pros (all metal head/tail, carbon blade, belt drive) that I never could get to fly well (despite many, many hours of trying) by essentially throwing them in free with the purchase of their electronics. Even then, it took time and effort. Now that Century has basically dropped parts support, they're even more worthless.

Yes, my Centuiry experience turned me off big time. I know they make good helis, but the 3D Pro left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Still Flying Mine

I found spares and upgrades 60% off locally, and have enough to fly for quite a while. The belt kit made it very smoothe. I use it primarily for indoors, it's not the best flying micro, but beats the motor driven tail heli's by far. I still like it mainly for the size and how light it is.

I still think its a great heli! Particularly for that size. Wonder why they stopped selling parts? I've got 3 airframes and a ton of parts, but I can find any of the inner portion of the seesaw holder (the only plastic part after you put the metal frame around it).

I only stopped flying them because I got into planes, but I'm going to get one going so my son can fly it.

Anyone want to get rid of that flybar thingy. I got plenty of crown gears to trade

3D pro parts

Skyartec Mosquido 3D Pro looks like a 3D pro to me. I think the parts would work for the Century brand. The Esky Store has parts, but I have never purchased any of the parts to know they are the same. The Mosquido has a belt driven tail, but all else looks the same. My Pro is on the shelf now but I want to try to get it going again. I don't need any parts at this time.

Expensive? I get mine from www.freestylehobby.com and they are cheapy cheap cheap. Much better than what us Aussies had to pay for the 3d Pro stuff here.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Flying the 3d pro

I started ouy with a HB Elite FP, Went from that to a E-sky lama learned orientation, went back to the FP, now going to CP, For me each step up was a new challenge. What I'm hoping for is that the Skyartec Mosquito is parts compatible and can put the belt drive tail on the 3d pro.
