Hi!
It is very simple and effective way to level axes for the helicopter.
The big vice, some bolts and magnets will be necessary for you.
I used a magnet for deduction of bolts and axes on a vice.

I wish successes!

Looks like a great way to get them almost straight.

It's say pitch the bent shafts in the garbage and buy new ones - money well spent.

Hi, haggy38
Practice is criterion of true!
I already some times leveled axes this way.
If to make it accurately vibrations is not present.
I agree to buy a new axis easier, but for me it too long as I live in Ukraine.
My order will be delivered for 3-4 weeks!

Best regards!

How are you measuring for straightness, A yardstick?

Go for it Painter12, sometimes I have done it just for the challange. If it is only bent, it can be done with good measuring tools, but if its twisted and bent, forget it.

Hello Painter 12, it is good! I do similar, and I check result with drilling - I rotate a shaft, I check the stayed curvature, and I knock a hammer a little. For blades- shaft results is good, the main shaft (it has heating hardness) frequently from vibration a little again bends.

Rube

Rube Goldberg called, and he wants his mainshaft back.
With careful tweaking it is possible to make it straight, try rolling it on a plate of glass or granite surface plate when finished to check for trueness.

If I had to wait that long, I'd find creative ways to fix everything too! Neccesity (and flying TODAY is always a neccesity) is the mother of invention, right?

Now... does anyone know a good way to repair smashed-up Radix blades???
