I sure hope it's everything they say it is. Sure would be great to have a flybarless system for under $350....

How easy is it to convert a Trex 450 or 500 to flybarless? Any detailed pictures for the mods? It should be pretty easy, right? I'm hooked on my Logo 500 Vbar and am looking to easily convert my others.

Well I just broke down and ordered one for my Trex 500. I'm going to try the direct swash to grip route like my Trex 600 and Ion X2 have. Has anyone done this on any heli without bringing the blade grip balls out to the centerline? I'm wondering if you can compensate for off center balls by changing the phasing electronically. Anyone try that? I'm also assuming that using leading versus lagging grip balls would be best (flip the grips).

Im just a little skeptical about buying one right now, it the first couple units, and Im not willing to invest $350 into something I dont knoe about. I knoe Ive seen the videos, but.... Awe, whatever, im gonna buy one, I like the look of flybarless too much.

Is there any reason that this unit could not be used on a 600 sized machine?

They said they have tested them on the larger machines well so I would say they'd be fine yes.

How did he mount the washout base to keep it from moving?

I fixed my washout bases to the mast by simply drilling holes through the side and using a screw or set screw to tighten to the mast. My Ion has a plastic base, so that was simple. Trex has aluminum so do a quick tap job for screws. The washout alignment pins from the head handle all the shearing stress, so the setscrews really don't have much stress to deal with (mainly just gravity).

Some closeup pics of the washout I'm using. Using the Washout Control Arm (HS1205) I trim off the shorter side of the washout arm and attached the radius arm to the longer side. This gives a larger overall arm movement without binding for maximum cyclic deflection. A set screw is used to secure the washout to the main shaft.

Does it have to be secured to the shaft? I just ran mine up without seciring it and it just leveled out.

The washout needs to be secure tight on the main shaft. The goal is to hold the upper portion of the swash so it does not move during flight.

muffin's probably using the head-pins, so he's okay without a setscrew. He can hold the washout block up with a couple small pieces of tubing on the bottom of the pins (under the washout block).
