NASA chinook

Looks great!

Test flew my Hirobo Chinook earlier this week for the first time. Its based on the electric version as undertaken and kindly shared by Aerosports in these forums.

I was actually very surprised by the hover stability. I was expecting a bucking bronco, but is was really tame.

I'm now looking for a colour scheme for the body- preferably one that helps with orientation. Does the Nasa scheme help?

Maybe This One??

This is one that I happened to find at the American Helicopter Museum in PA....
I have a few more shots of it... if you would like them send me your email by PM...

Glad to hear that your machine hovers well... the first forward flights are a little nerve racking, but what a feeling once you get the hang of it.. it is just a timing thing that you need to get used to.... and the two rotor heads facing you nose in!!!!!

That's a beautiful machine. I wish I had the patience to put together something that nice.

Stan that helicopter unofficially broke some speed records. It was a technology demonstrator that Boeing built to develop and qualify composite fuselage and other technologies. It had smaller rotors with four blades per head.

Good info... do you have any pic's of the machine flying???
I thought it looked quite a bit "different" when I first saw it and that is why I took a few shots while I was there.... interesting "stuff"!!!!

Thanks, Stan

The Model 360 had a fuselage length of 15.5 meters (51 feet) long and a takeoff weight of 13,835 kilograms (30,500 pounds). It was mostly built of composite materials, and featured a glass cockpit, with six CRT displays; a digital flight control system; twin Avco Lycoming AL5512 turboshafts providing 4,200 horsepower each, driving four-blade composite rotors; and retractable tricycle landing gear. Cruise speed was 370 KPH (230 MPH).

cuckoospringer.... nice job getting her together. Looks great. More pics when she's flying.
