How do you start your Benzin gasser?? I tried to just fire it up today and it would not go at all. I fueled it up with my Ozark fuel with 2 oz of Amsoil. pumped up the bulb on the side of the carb and tried to start it. It didnt go. I pulled the spark plug and it was soaking wet with fuel down in side the plug. Its a new BMR6A as i dont have a 7A found yet in town. I put the plug wire in the plug and gave it a few pulles to clean out the motor and to check for spark. Plenty of spark, and fuel commin out of the plug hole too. I unpluged the fuel supply line ( on the opposite side of the bulb on the carb ) and then tried it again with the spark plug in the motor. It just barely ran for a few seconds then died. Pulled the plug again and still, it was wet. this went on for about 30 min.
How many times are you supposed to pump the carb bulb if at all?? I have a new WT-603 with 1 1/2 on low and 1 1/4 on high needles. I tried the choke but nothing seemed to help. tried it with out, nothing.
what are your rituals for starting??
BTW, I think that this motor has been ran as the top of the piston has a small amount of carbon build up on it but he old 6A plug looke tan with only a little oil residue on it. Could have been from storage as i don't think that it had been ran in a while.......

try this

I had to play w/ the choke a bit when first starting my g26. Weather was about 65 deg. F. I pulled and pulled and pulled some more and couldn't start it. Finally figured out to completely close the choke and pulled about 3 times then it fired up. Try closing the choke all the way and if it kicks over like it wants to start but doesn't stay running then open the choke fully and pull again. Also make sure you have just a bit higher than idle on throttle. Don't know about the priming, but if your getting wet spark plug you know you got plenty of fuel and might want to reduce the amount of priming. Good luck, keep trying.

Mike,
How many fittings do you have on your fuel tank?

Sounds like your low speed is too rich

If the low speed it too rich, it will not run. This is not a nitro motor.

I don't have experience with your carb, I have the stock g23 carb, but I assume its the same idea. Try closing the low end down to 1 1/8 turn open from 1 1/2 and try again using this procedure.

Tx stick full down, throttle trim 1/2 way. (do not start with TX stick anywhere above full down -- use trim to adjust throttle only).
Close choke.
Prime bulb until carb floods and excess fuel is returned to the tank.
Pull once, maybe twice with choke closed. Engine should run, flood, and quit.
Open choke.
Pull a few times to clear the flood in the engine and get it running.

Once you get the procedure down, you will know what is happening before it happens and be able to adjust your starting technique.

Like for me, I close the choke, pull once with the choke closed, then open the choke, pull a second time and its running. I anticipate the flood instead of waiting to hear it and it starts quicker this way. No big deal if it starts and quits with the choke closed -- all that means is that you may have to pull it 4 to 5 times with the choke open to clear the flood and get it running.

Once the engine is running, adjust the throttle travel adjust so that you get a nice slow but reliable idle (blades won't turn) with the tx throttle trim 1/2 way open, and, so that when you pull the trim back the engine will quit. Next time you go to start the engine, just put the trim 1/2 way up and go.

Good luck, and enjoy!

fittings

lets see, I have the fueling line that goes to the the left side of the tank when looking at the cap on the carb side os the heli. Nest one from left to right is the line with a filter that goes to the carb on the opposite side fo the bulb. the last line is the line that comes from right under the bulb on the carb and had a "T" before the tank. the "T" has a line that goes up the frames, then back down below the level of the carb.
one thing i did notice is that the fuel filter is about half full of fuel. Could there be a leak in the filter??

I just wanted to make sure you had a vent line open

Your to rich on the low...Put your your low to 1 1/4, , leave your high at 1 1/8...Try to start it with these settings, you should have to richen the low between 11/4 to 1 3/8s when you get it in a hover...

I don't run a filter in line, only on the pickup in the tank....I do all my filtering when fueling...If your not going to 3D the machine, then your ok to use that inline filter...It does hold air....

Something else, The bulb on your carb is used only to get the fuel from the tank to the carb. You'll notice if you continue pumping it, the fuel only gets returned to the tank.

As seamuseg said, close the choke and give a few pulls until you hear the engine "pop", turn off the choke and it should start within a couple of pulls, if the needles are set properly.

The engine definitely has trouble starting if the plug is soaked in fuel.

Good Luck.

GOT IT!!!

I took another shot at it and it was still flooded. SOOOOOOOOO I took out the plug, took out the fuel, took off the fuel lines, blew out the motor with a few pulls then put back the plug, Fired it up and it did start after a few pulls then ran untill it died. I had drained the carb, and the bulb so there was no fuel in it at all!! then fueled the tank again, only placed the fuel lines on the carb, didnt bother pumping the bulb and it started with only 2 pulls. has worked good ever since. did the range check with the motor runnin and got a half a block away with no loss of control. Next its off the the park for a test hover!!!!
Man this thing is heavy. 15 lbs with no fuel. I cant just throw this thing around like the little rappy!! JOY!!!

Thanks to all who have helped along the way!! I'm soooo much a gasser now!!

IT FLIES!!!!

Got the benzin all finished, only thing i dont have is the ignition surpression cap but i dont think it will mater too much, range check were awsome!!!
Only thing i had to do is raise my pitch curve and lower my throttle curve so i didnt over rev it at hover. I got it down to a managable RPM but i dont have any idea at what speed it is. Sounds like its around 1450 to 1500. I'm going to move my servo wheels up a notch on the servo to get more pitch range on the upper end as I was at 70% for 5 deg pitch. I'll have to extend the rods a little too but its running and its to a point where i can mess with it!!!! It started with one pull, no choke today!!!! Motor is runnin sweet!! it climbed like a rapped ape~! only got a hlaf a tank through it but will have more time tommarow to fly. Along with getting my Raptor test flow so i can take it appart and put it back in the Bell 407!!!

pitch /throttle curve?!?

Now that i have this thing runnin, I've got another snag! I started out with 5 deg pitch at mid stick at 70%. throttle was at 50%. THOUGHT I WAS GONA BLOW UP THE HELI WITH THAT HEAD SPEED!!! I ended up dropping the throttle curve to 30% and 78% on the pitch. Just for fun I thought I'd throw in the pitch guage and it was at near 9 deg. Now i like a slow head RPM adn i think it was around 1450 to 1550. I could just barly see the individual blades.

what are you guy's running for pitch curves on an 8UHP???
