Hi, i am trying to revive my old Shuttle Z. It is a belt start and I wondering whether it can be easily converted to a top start? does anyone know whether it can be done? and which parts I need? any advice would be a big help!

the unfortunate advice is: fly it till it breaks the way it is.

The cost of changing out the start system si about $100 cause
you need new bearings, clutch bell, etc.

It's just not economically viable.

I agree with Z11355, it will not be worth the cost. Even after that $100.00 investment you will still have a "low spec/outdated design heli".

If you are like many of us who went through the "Shuttle belt start frustrations" then I might suggest the following. (A number of locals have done this.)

Remove your servos/gyro/engine (leave the two-piece/power robbing Hirobo muffler) from your Shuttle And sell the muffler and heli for about $150.00. Now go and purchase a Hawk IV for $220.00 (it comes with a proper one-piece CNC machined aluminum muffler) from Ron Lund at www.ronlund.com.

Install your gyro, servos, engine in the Hawk IV and go out and have fun.

Your net cost will be less and you will have a NEW helicopter that is a much better one. And if you would add the BB kit (about $22.00) to it you would have a heli in the class of the Sceado 30 or Shuttle ZXX and have spent a lot less money.

Just some food for thought.
