Mark !

I had one when they came out from Vario for the first time.I had much fun with it, but heat was a problem from my point of view - even in cold scandinavia it was also very sensitive to needleadjustment.

No - if you are going 4 stroke, the Vario Boxer with the FT 160 is the one to choose

Soundlevel lover than electric, never never in the area of overheating even on a hot day. You never have to adjust needle, starts for the first all the time - simply a pleasure

I will recommend a dual on board glowsystem to help idle at cold starts. To increase crankcase ventilation and to stop oil recieving the glutch it is a good idea is to block the top (original rear)nipple and fit a new one just above / behind the front bearing !

10 % nitro will do

Regards

Peter B

Peter,
Thanks for the info,I picked a NOS one with a engine that had been ran one time.It has the older Delta head and in all white with the red aluminum parts. The last time I saw one was in #6 Vario catalog from the early 90's.We will see... Thanks Mark

I had the kit with OS 91 but never built or flew it, it came in a half built 222 kit I purchased and used a roosi .67 instead. The .91 has since been sold but I have other bits of it around yet.

I know I still have the red anodized main gear for the engine and exhaust silencer around and would be willing to sell it if you find you need it. I also may have other parts around and could dig for them if needed, let me know if you become interested.

Hey Mark I built one up a few years ago with a YS 91AC in it. Took a bit of mod on the frames for the air chamber but it worked great tons of power, lots more than the OS. I will try and find my pictures of it.

It didn't overheat last weekend when the ambient was 75°F, it might have a overheating problem when the ambient reaches 100°F. If it does then we'll fly a different heli. If you have never seen one of these fly, it flies like its on rails.

Wait till you see the Boxer, then you'll all be drooling.
