I too have now joined the jet crowd!! Since I own & fly the full scale aircraft the Jet A is not going to be a problem for me approx $2.15 a gal!!

Anyway thanks to Peter Wales & Bill Ludwig for there help!!

According to the AMA I now have my rotary wing & fixed wing turbine waiver!! Yea!! ---- What an unbelievable PAIN in the ass to get!

Bill at Arizona Heli is painting another canopy for the jetcopter and I must say his work so far (he has done 2 raptor canopies for me) is flawless!! I definitely recommend him!

It's just so hard to go back to glow engines! When I'm ready to go flying, I look at the Fury (which I love), then I look at the Raptor 60 (which I practice a lot with), then I look at the JetCopter. Which one do I grab?.....

No brainer!!

It's a different machine with Rick's exhaust.

I still wish we could get it into a more stable hover.

Stockpiling, Dan??

HEY ! NO FAIR.......now I know why Home Depot told me they stock transferred all they had to Colorado !

Go Ahead, burn all you want......they WILL make more........

You WILL realize that it is worth the wait for Ricks' exhaust.....we just got off the phone (sorry, Bud......didn't realize it was almost an hour) and I think I have him talked into coming up this weekend (Sunday) to put the BLING on the guys I fly with. It is amazing the difference in flight attitude with that pipe on it. I've seen it with the stock one and then with his. Josef and Co. are gonna see one this weekend in Phoenix.......and I think Rick is gonna be a BUSY MAN real soon ! I know Bill is gonna show his stuff.....Right Bill???????

Actually, I am going to the Phoenix FF, but won't be doing any flying there. I don't like flying around a ton of congestion. Especially with a $6,000 JetCopter! I'm also not going to put myself through the aggravation of the waiver process. I fly for the love of flight. I go out lots of times during the week and just fly solo for an hour or two at a non-AMA field.

hmmm

Unless you are flying both planks and helis' I don't think that is true..
You will need a ground school and heli waiver...unless something changed recently...I don't see why they would make you learn to fly a highspeed airplane when the heli's don't fly that fast...

I would check again...maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere.

AMA question 8

Rick,

The answer was 2000 RPM max and not to exceed mrf recomendations, you have to include both parts.

Anyway I have my turbine fixed wing & rotary wing waivers so I'm done with the BS!!

Waiver

In case some are wondering why I got my fixed wing also it is because it is simply easier to do it all at once. Even if you never plan to fly the other, an extra demo flight and few more sign-offs, was worth it to me.

And, I am also having a Roo built for me! So I do plan to fly both, the helli will get more use simply because it is able to operate far more places then the plane, but hey it's still jet-A!!!!

Snow this weekend!

Now guys don't misunderstand, I bought all that kerosene for my kerosene heater, they are predicting more snow for Colorado and I don't want to freeze my toes off I would NEVER hog ALL the kerosene, I'll leave you 5 gallons

Jet-A

Well I can't stand it any longer, at the airport where I keep my plane they have 3 thanks that are I believe 12,500+ gal of Jet-A, and they buy it at around .72 cents a gallon. I guess they get the qty discount.

Any way it's who you know not what you know! I have a life times supply.

As a pilot who does fly real jets occasionaly. I can tell you that there is no reason they can't sell you Jet-A or even 100LL if you wanted it. If they give you it some federal rule or state rule crap get them to quote it to you, or tell you where you can find it --- there's not one! The only thing is, they don not have road usage tax included in the gas (like farm diesel).

Some of the people at the airport love to have a rule to enforce and you may get some up front BS. But if you bring your heli I would bet most airports would sell you Jet-A once they have seen your heli. Try to go to the smaller airports first and you may have much better luck! Once your in its better to let them store your Jet-A and its cheaper! Jet-A will range from $1.50 to $3.00 usualy.

Bill,

You mentioned you wish you could get a more stable hover even with Rick's exhaust. What is going on with hover?

Thanks,

Does the Hotcat has the same issue? I know it would have the same head speed since they both use the HP5, but maybe a different design makes a difference.

Hi Bill,

That's my only complaint with the JetCopter flight characteristics - the hover. It just doesn't want to stay in one place. Other JetCopter guys say the same thing, so I doubt if it's setup related. Maybe it's just the exhaust forces working on it. Forward flight is great. It likes to drop the tail for no apparent reason in slow forward flight and hovering.
