Rich.....grab your checkbook.....

The FIRST order of business is to get with Rick Gonzales (gassersrule) and have him make you an exhaust pipe for your ship. It is well worth the price (actually less expensive than others that don't work as well). Ask Bill Ludwig (Arizona Heli's) about it. Next step is to locate some aeroshell 500 turbine oil. Past that.....just ask lots of questions and take your time. There is a good group of new turbine owners on here that can help you out. I plan to join the ranks very soon myself. Good Luck, and keep us informed. James

Hi Rich,

While you're grabbing your checkbook don't forget to order a paint job for that canopy!! Geee, I wonder who could do that for you?? If nothing else, make sure you fiberglass the bottom rear edge of the canopy to prevent (or reduce) cracking. It WILL crack otherwise.

Also, I just ordered a Jersey fueling container - it's $219, but is probably well worth it. It comes with a reversing pump, battery and funnel. See it here: http://www.jerseymodeler.com. Kind of a luxury, but will make messing with kerosene a bit easier.

www.oil-store.com is a good source for the oil - about $175/24 qts. delivered to your door.

Don't forget the Powermax fuel. Four large cans will last you a long time.

Get a dozen 3mm x 6mm o-rings for the starter - you're gonna need 'em.

Plumb the tanks in series for complete usage of available fuel and easier fueling.

Don't expect it to hover rock solid - it won't, even when you put the head shims in. Forward flight is a thing of beauty though!

Yes, get Rick's exhaust system! Tell Josef to keep the tin can.

Get the 3300 mah NiMh battery for the ECU. The 1800 mah NiCd is fine for the receiver/servos.

Start trying to find some McCoy #9 glow plugs.

Get a Supernova charger if you don't already have one. Maybe even a Radio Shack 10 amp battery eliminator ($70).

I know it's a lot of $$, but you'll probably end up getting all this stuff later anyway. You might as well start enjoying it all right now.

Call me with questions at 520-883-6729, or e-mail me at bill@arizonaheli.com.

Enjoy it!!

Thanks for the info...

Lets just set the record straight....
I miss led ya guys a bit....
I am the builder...and pilot....but not the owner...
All the fun...without the expence...
A buddy of mine (A Jetcat Rep in chicago) bought it, he is very familiar with Jetcat engines and jetplanks (2 hotspots and a Superbandit) now he is topping it off with a heli.
My job is to build it and take turns flying it(I am hoping to have it at our club fun fly in sept.)
He is more of a planker and I am more Heli(I dont know why...but Donnie and Marie's "A little bit country" song is now in my head)

So...lucky...yup I am very lucky

I like the exhaust system...and will recommend it to him...

Is the HP-5 starter different from the P-120? What o rings are wearing out( I will ask him about this as well..he may already know about it)?

As for all of the fueling and propane goodies...well 3 jets...he's got that covered

Being a Raptor man...I am used to "garage fixes" for the shortcomings of a kit...I was just wondering if there where any problems with the kit that needed some special loving.

Again thanks for the support...it is really great

P.S. If ever in Chicago...for Al's Fun fly or the RICHTA Show...Let me know...I am the President of our Heli only club (50-60 members depending on the season)And we would love to fly with any one with rotors

Hi Rich,

I can't speak to the building process as Taylor assembled mine. I wish I could have done it, but too many canopies to paint!!

The o-ring is the one that pushes against the start shaft on the turbine. It's probably normal wear and tear, but I had to replace mine after about 15 starts. It was chattering and wore a cone shape into the o-ring.

Maybe Viton would last longer....?

hmmm must be different

The start system must be different from the planker verison of engines...cause we dont have any issues like that...cant wait to see it all when it arrives. I feel like grunting in the Tim Allen "Home Improvements" kind of way....uhh uhhh uhhhhh.

Do you guys use Aeroshell 500 or 560 or something completely different?
We have been using 500 in the P-120's

Thanks for the link to the oil-store...great prices there.

Aeroshell 500 is recommended in the JetCat manual.
