Just curious, with the advent of all the new Mikado machines, does anyone still fly the Logo 20 or are they ancient history now?

logo 20

The logo 20 is an ancient airframe...It had ALOT of issues in my opinion...the frame was SUPER flexible...

There are still some here and there though...I see them pop up on fleabay once and a while also...I'm sure there are still a few in the air though..

here's a pic of my old logo 20...it did fly pretty well though..

Logo 20

Hey nice machine!
I knew it was an older design but i thought they were popular.
Well now this explains why i haven't been able to sell mine. Guess I'll just have to keep it.
Must be way to stiffen up the frame? is there an upgrade or something?

frame

Yeah...the best way is to toss it in the trash and put the parts on a logo 10 or a logo 14 frame set..

Just kidding...

They sell the logo 24 Bionic frame set upgrade but it's so expensive it's really not worth it...

you're better off just flying it until it dies and then just retire it...I practically had to give mine away to get rid of it...even though the logo 20 uses all the same parts as the logo 10's and 14's...no one wants the logo 20 these days

The logo 20 have not been popular for years....

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Don`t beat about the bush Jag, tell `em straight.
Joking aside the L20 was not designed for the power we have available today. Strap a 12s lipo in there and you`d probably fold it in two. Stick 24 nicads in it and it`s a nice flyer for about 3 minutes. Who wants 3 minutes of nice these days though.

With the configuration I was running, i only had about 1 1/2 minutes flight time!
Guess a lot had to do with the motor I bought for it though.
It's a Plettenberg HP300/40/A3
What's a better motor for this machine?

back in the day...I was running a tango 45-10 and 6s 2p setup...(2 flightpower 6s 3700's) so 6s 7400mah and I was getting about 7 1/2 minutes of hard flying with 600mm blades...over 8 1/2 minutes with 550's and very good power

Hello, I had a Logo20 too, my first .50 size electric. Flew it on 24 NiCd's and NiMH's. Nice flier but the frame flex became very evident once I upgraded it to 8S3P 6000mAh ProLites doing aerobatics.

So I upgraded it to the Bionic airframe which completely eliminated the flex and made it feel solid in the air. It flies real well now on 10S TP 3700mAh High Performance packs. If you go this route you'll want to get the LLS head upgrade too for quicker cyclic response. If you are not into aerobatics/3D then the stock head is fine. Good luck.

Chachin..

Motor

So the tango 45-10 seems like "the" motor of choice for this machine?
Are there other options as well?
I will never do 3d stuff with this machine. It will be used for AP so I'm looking for duration.

Hello

NO!

The 45-10 has a KV thats way to high.

Run that heli on 10s and choose the correct motor. I know remember the count for the L20 Mod 1 main gear but for AP with 600mm blades Id try to keep the HS governed under 2000 RPM...possibly 1850 to 1900 for a nice soft feel.

The Orbit 30-12 Heli Expert motor would probably be sweet on this heli on 10s. If you need to you can change to the .7mod Logo 14 main gear for more pinion options, I suggest that you consider this.

With the .7 mod main gear the Tango 07 on 10s with an 11 tooth would be sweet(I use a 12 tooth with my Jazz set to 80% for 3D). I can hover my 14 with this setup for over 10mins on 3.7 AH Evo 25 packs.

Actually....if you are going to be just running the machine for AP use I would recommend the 6s 2p route...and the tango 45-10

So here's my input:

the Stock logo 20 gearing is 1.0 mod 96t main gear.

if you run a 8t pinion you're looking at a 12:1 ratio
with the tango 45-10(1050KV) you're looking at about 1900+ at 100%..which would be perfect for AP and 600mm blades...this would also allow you to strap 2 6s packs on the machine and get a 7400-10000mah setup on the machine for LONG DURATION flights...

I was flying 3d with mine on 6s and it made plenty of power with 6s 2p 7400mah and 600mm blades

The logo 20 is not really a 10s machine and I don't see any benefit of going 10s.

Just my opinion though

I can fly(crusing and very mild aerobatics) my Logo 14 for a really long time on 10s(over 10mins in some cases one 3.7Ah 10s packs). After a flight my packs and motor are bairly warm.

On lower voltage setups Ive found that I got decent duration also, but the components were defintally a good bit warmer.

But like I said Id go with the .7 mod gear to give you more pinion options.

BTW I ran a 6s setup on a Logo 10 and It was pretty nice. Again good duration so Im sure the 45-10 Tango would be sweet. But Id still switch over to the .7mod gears. The lower teeth count pinions tore up main gears pretty bad for me.

Cells

I think something else i'm going to try is the A123 cells?(because of cost)
Are they worth a shot?

So from what I'm reading here, the lower voltages seem to run hotter?
For now I'm going to keep the main gear stock as well.

Hey, I still fly a stretched L20 with 720s. It does flex a lot, but still handles nice and smooth...the way I like to fly.

I used to fly the Logo 20 (loaded with 8S2P A123's) as my primary ship but upgraded to the L600 because I didn't like the flex in the L20's servo tray. The frame is not as rigid as the L600 but then as Tip said, it can smooth out the flight characteristics a little.

Heres where my 10cell stretched Logo 20 is: Graupner 109E fuselage thats almost ready for paint. I love the Mikado line. The heads on these machines remind me of a small Vario head as they look similar.

Using the same blades, motor, etc lower voltage systems will run hotter because they use more amperage. Higher voltage systems fulfill the need for wattage (energy needed to fly) by using higher voltage and less amperage (battery storage) thus the batteries and power system runs more efficiently and cooler....Ron

Hi, I have a Logo 20. With a hacker C50 13XL and 2 TP-4S4P 8000ma
It flys for 30 min.

Just flying around like a real helicopter.
