I am how and what do i need to have a disconnect from the Motor when i plug the battery in so i can mess with the controls and not the motor. this is also a safety concern for me....

hi
you just need to unplug the motor from the ESC , HTH , dana

the main battery would still plug into the ESC and the ESC would still supply power to the RX so the servos would work , when you are ready to fly again just plug the motor back into the ESC

I like to unplug the the sending wire from the ESC that plugs into the RX.... That way you don't fry your ESC while power is on to the Rx
I then plug a nicad pack into the RX in any open channel like the one for the throttle you have unplugged....

thats just cause you had a ESC with a low output impedance and fried the thing. I need to do a little research on the align esc and see if they fixed the impedance problem. If its any consellation slider that was an engineering design error on that circuit it should of never happened. I would think align would of jumped on that right away. I notice there are 2 big caps hanging out the end of an align esc Im thinking this may be the answer to your problem.

I'm not the only one who has fried an ESC of any brand.. Stop and think of all the problems with the fried 4in1 units on the cp align along with other brands have had this issue. I'm no electrical engineer or even play one on this forum, but all esc's get hot when just left plugged in and no motor is running, Why is that??? I really don't have a clue why but I always unplug the esc wire when working on the heli and power it up with an old nicad pack. Just a habit I always do.............

Yours is the best way. but think of it like this Electricity flows like water. You turn your water on in the sink there is very little pressure on the pipes or sink just flowing water. Then you pull out the sink and cap the line you have the max amount of pressure on the line over time the line gets old gives up and busts. With the motor running the power flows out and is used up now you take that motor out you need something to hold back the power unfortunately the ESC may not be able to deal with the source of power and the proverbial pipe will burst. I guess with a 30amp esc and a little motor like mine the old pipe can handle the pressure of a 1500mah pack Also I know not to spend much time past 0 stick on throttle while doing this.

I hope that analogy helps you with the power flow your just capping off a pipe. With good pipes your ok.
