David,

We first went with a mod similar to yours but ended up with the setup below.

With this setup you can leave the servo to swash linkage rods in place helping keep swash interaction to a minimum while achieving proper servo resolution for any of the flybarless systems. The head setups have more to do with the servo travel rather then what type of flybarless system is used.

Carlos,

Did you leave your servo to swash linkage the same as stock? Your setup looks like it would "dampen" the throws appropriately... I'm still tinkering with mine.

Thanks.

Ted

Carlo's it looks like that would work. I am kind of dumb so I will ask anyway. By looking at your pictures, your link rods are not straight up and down. Does that not cause a problem?

I would like to also ask rcman's question. I'm getting ready to fit vbar to my Trex 500 and would like to know from those who've converted whether to go straight from swash to grips with shorter servo arm throw, or go with mixing arm reduction, and whether having any delta offset affects the vbar. Also has anyone compared leading to trailing edge control with vbar on the trex 500?

Hello

The mod that I posted works with no problems at all. Heli works exactily as it should.

Here is a vid...

Looks like its flying straight to me

The advantage of this mod is you can use your stock links with some minor length changes.

It's Alive!!! I finally got a successful flight on my Trex 500 flybarless project. The first two attempts failed miserably while testing one of the newer systems to come on the market and racking up serious repair costs. I then decided to give up on that system and go with a Vbar setup instead(now my third Vbar heli). With stock settings, 20mph winds with higher gusts, and butterflies in my stomach, I went for it and...it was totally uneventful. She flew perfectly on the maiden flight! Tracking was laser perfect with no adjustments. Now I can start the tweaking process, but I don't think much will be needed. Maybe just activating extended mode will be enough. You've got to love Vbar!! Each of my 3 Vbar projects have flown wonderfully from the first flight.

I went with the direct swash to blade grip, leading edge control route. Shortened up on servo arms (Futaba 9650's, second hole out on 4 arm wheel). Futaba 9257 on the tail. Stock washout hub tapped for setscrews to serve as swash driver. Pictures of my mod are in my gallery.

It sounds like you have had a tough time getting it going. Congrats, on getting to working. You will enjoy it once you get the fine tuning down

I already enjoy it! This was my final hold out heli; using an old fashioned flybar. Now my fleet is complete. I hope the newer systems mature quickly so we can get prices down, but for now you have to love Vbar. It works great from the get go every time.

I flew the heck out of my VBar Trex 500 yesterday in winds 15-25 and gusty. I love it. My packs were significantly cooler without the flybar owing to the increased efficiency.

BTW an extra shaft collar will hold the swash hub up in place. No need to even place a set screw.

Thanks guys!

Hey the extra collar is definately a quick fix if you dont want to drill and tap the washout

Guys.

Quick question for you VBar experts. I get an occasional oscillation with certain quick collective changes, such as tic-tocs. What flight parameter in VBar programming will settle this down?

BTW I flew a flybarred Trex 500 today and landed it and put it back in the car...No comparison to the Vbar version...
