e-HeliDirect Outrage - HDX 300-600 > HDX VS. ALIGN

As I have 2 trex's SE V2's because they are more popular than HDX. I aquired hdx parts and stuff. As I am looking at the HDX stuff, I think it is much better.

The tail rotor yoke or pitch slider has more bearings and has no play, where the align one does.

The carbon frame also has a little thicker carbon fiber and seems to be better quality. It is also more rigid and the setup for ccpm all have the same size links.

The hdx maingear seemed better until align came out with the v2 gear.

The rotor head on the align SE V2 I like along with the fiberglass canopy.

SO WHY is it that align trex's have a much better resale value or just more desirable?

What I want soo much should never hurt this bad

I have seen the hdx up close versus align. The hdx runs about 100 dollars cheaper s.e. model and its really a nice helicopter, made in taiwan. If there was parts support for the hdx like align, I can bet you it would be a dog fight. Like ford versus chevy Jimmi

If you're gonna spend $400+ and you realy don't want to take a chance as to whether you getting a quality product or not, are you going to spend it on a product that has already proven itself, or a vertually unknown product you know very little about.

Look how long it took Lexus to become the "Automobile" it is now. Started off, who would want to spend that kind of money for a car made in Japan

My Trex as gradually become an HDX

I order all my stuff from Helidirect and the only part I dont like is the swash the rest is the same or better. If I had to do it right now I would buy the HDX 450 se over the Trex..

PLus if you think the Align parts were low cost the HDX parts cost less with the same quality.

When I was upgrading my Trex 450XL to an aluminum head, I accidentally bought the HDX 450 swash. The only thing thats happened to it is the bearing dust cover came off. Other than that it's been problem/slop free.

Why don't you like the HDX swash?

I had a hollow top section.. Not really a problem I just prefer the solid align style

They really aren't that much different quality wise anyways.

The link rods - at least that came with my HDX450 are poor quality. I just finished putting mine together and did a test hover. So far so good - hovers very solid. The CNC work seems top notch (I'm no expert) and all the bolts & holes matched up.

My biggest complaint is lack of directions. There is a burned video (can also get it on the HeliDirect site) which is OK, but I like exploded diagrams since it is hard to tell what screw/bolt they are using on the video - that kind of stuff.

Mine came with an Otter ESC, the HDX 3550 KV motor, a lipo batter, and a Telebee gyro, all for about $300.00 which isn't bad. I was missing a couple of bolts out of the kit. Aside from the really bad threads on the rods, this seems to be a great kit for the money.

CNC work

The aluminum head pieces used on the Trex and HDX are not CNC. They are aluminum but they are precision castings. Align for sure could never get the price where it is by CNC machining the parts. They are still adequate for what they are intended for though.

I keep working on my HDX300, but with all its issues, I'll probably never buy a full HDX heli again. When the HDX has been right, it's great. But all too quickly and for no apparent reason, it just turns into a (as Slider46 has put it) POS. My two Rex's have been trouble-free. What I'd love to have is 'Rex quality and performance in a 300-sized package.

Some are close, but none are perfect.

Gerry that will only happen in a perfect world.... Your right when the hdx300 is good it's very good but when it's bad it's a pos....
